We left the hotel to drive up partway to Mt Fuji. No sooner than leaving Tokyo, we were caught up in a traffic jam for the next 30 minutes. It was rather foggy when we got to around the mountain. We were lucky to be able to see the mountain some of the time. We had a French bistro kind of lunch in a small café. We pretty much occupied the entire place. Food was surprisingly good. There was absolutely too many people around the station #5. The ...

This morning we take the Yamanoto Line to Tokyo station where we transfer to the Superview Odoriko train to Atami on the Izu Peninsula, about 90 min by train. Hakone-Yumoto is a quaint and busy little village, difficult to find a parking spot. It's a short walk ...

Waking up to a glorious day, wow, Fujisan can be seen from the hotel! After coffee and a breadbasket with different breads for breakfast we are ready to start the day. The plan is to go see the purple moss fields located on the other side of Mount Fuji. When punching in the phone number for the purple moss fields the GPS tells us the phone number isn't in the system. The English speaking desk clerk is quick to help. He finds a ...

... is a Japanese one up in he mountain. There is a natural hot spring bath on the roof and the water is piping hot. Far too hot to sit for long. We had a Japanese meal again but this time it was lots of fish and not just vegetarian like the temple we stayed in. It all came in loads of different dishes and seemed never ending. The Japanese have 3 springs a day when they come here. I guess it's their way of unwinding before the Tokyo ...
