This is the longest blog so far in this trip, cause a lot of time spent on trains
Took JR, train and train again to get to Fuji train station, total of about 2 something hours.
I have to make a comment, the worst washroom I went to China was still better than the one in Fuji train station :(
I forgot to chk the weather for Fuji, the weather at the Mt is 10 degree lower than the station. It was cold in the station, probably mid teens ...
Trains, Cable Cars and Pirate Ships!
We have been very lucky today - we actually saw the elusive Mount Fuji several times!
We left the hotel and went by train further up into the mountains to Gora where the Hakone Tozan Cableway runs from. - I would have called it a funicular railway - after about 10 minutes on that we reached Sounzan where we changed to the Hakone Ropeway (a cable car) which took us further up in the mountains with our first decent views of Mt Fuji. Finally we reached the main town of Motomachi and went to Hama-no-yu onsen. This is an outside hot spa on a cliff overlooking the port. On clear days there are fine views of Mt Fuji, but today was cloudy. Still there was something tranquil about sitting in a hot pool, watching rain clouds gather over the volcano.

The Elusive Mt Fuji
... the mountains where our hotel is. The hotel was built in the late 1800’s and from the pictures on the walls it’s where royalty used to stay when they visited the area. Whilst its full of character its also very expensive - one cup of coffee in the coffee shop is £8.50 (we found a slightly cheaper alternative down the street)!

All I can say is, you MUST ride this, and any/everywhere on the Izu Peninsula at some point in your life. You must do this especially if you consider yourself a keen moto tourer.
