Hi, I arrived in Delhi yesterday after being in London for 4 days (first time in London and loved it). I took an overnight flight and was able to fly first class. That was really cool. I had my own little pod and even got a massage in-flight! I watched Knocked Up and Blades of Glory on my own tv. ha-ha. BoG was hilarious. I just hope I didn't disturb anyone with my laughing. Seriously though, the views of what I am assuming was Pakistan and/or Afghanistan were really cool. No trees, no cities...
Delhi, India bnbfsuSunday came and I decided to keep going with some site seeing in Delhi even though it was Eid, a huge Muslim holiday that signifies the end of Ramadan and a corresponding Hindi holiday that I still can't make out the namet. At least I think there are two seperate holidays going on. Either way there were a lot of people out and I felt like I got to experience some of the real India. I started out at India Gate, a war memorial with park around it. It was a pretty quick spot but worth while seei...
Delhi, India bnbfsuIt's Sunday night and I am reflecting on my first week in India - in Delhi. It has been both exciting and exhausting. Exciting because everything is new. Exhausting because everything is new and trying to figure out accents and communicating is just plain tiring. To many of us India seems so far away and mysterious, altogether different than what we are. But I have found that our similarities generally outweigh our differences. Maybe it is the distance, maybe it is the completely different la...
Delhi, India bnbfsuMy day started off early with a 4am wake up call and a 5am pick-up. I hired a driver for the day to take me to Agra, the home of the Taj Mahal. Besides the TM, there are many other things to see and can't really be done in one day. But that is what I have (very American I am told) choose to do and planned what I was going to see. Once getting out of Delhi, we (my driver Sunil and I) got on the Interstate. I was exhausted but didn't want to sleep and miss anything. Previously, back at the hote...
Agra, India bnbfsuToday I met up with Kristin, from American University, Kristin's brother Keith, Rachel, from Temple, and Tim, from University of Washington. We hired a car to take us on a tour of Delhi. For the first time ever we've actually arrived in a tour city a couple of days early so we can really explore the place before we're off to the next location. First stop, Parliament, and the President's house. As you can see, it's a bit hazy here. Delhi air reminds me of Beijing. Smokey, and fuzzy. I was coug...
Delhi, India choyt1427I had been in India for 2 weeks. Prior to departure from Canada, I had arranged to meet in Delhi for a week-end, with Dorothy, a Canadian friend working in India. I came on the overnight train from Varanasi (Benares). I would have a day on my own before hooking up with Dorothy at the 5 star Maurya Sheraton Hotel where she would be staying. In my compartment was Norie, a young Japanese woman returning home from a month of volunteering at Mother Teresa's in Kolkata. She told me she would go str...

... from global auto majors. Now with the global economic downturn and sagging automotive sales the world over, the outlook of auto component industry is in doldrums. In the same way, the ups and downs of the real estate market have implications for companies whose future is linked to housing demand in India. The companies at risk straddle a wide spectrum of ...
Delhi, India zameensandeep... government has not done enough. If we want people to move to places near Delhi we have to provide them with connectivity. Do that and no one will want to clog Delhi. See, people work in London but they stay in the countryside, because they have been provided good infrastructure and connectivity. The Metro will do a lot of good to Ghaziabad. Roads, sewerage system, better law and order are some of ...
Delhi, India zameensandeep... beers for 411 rupees and walk back to hotel. Today i'm down for another shop. Yes, i'm a glutton for punishment but it that, the hotel room or this internet cafe. So, my health. We'll do the pooh thing last. Mozzies. Had a couple in Kanpur. Minor ones and nothing to concern me. But i let my guard down on the train from Calcutta to Delhi. Got done 5 times on the left calf. But thats all. I've got off very lightly. Nose and throat. I've had a runny nose the last week. I ...
