... see the only remaining trenches. When the current owner's grandfather returned from the war, he found his fields full of trenches and bomb craters, and he decided not to fill them in and plant crops. So we were able to see the zig-zag trenches, some of which were as muddy as they would have been in 1916. The trenches have gotten shallower over the years because while the owner maintains the site, he doesn't want to do anything artificial to it. He did have to shore up a few trench ...

... and dirt bike paths that run alongside the canals that flow in and out of Brugge. This particular route took us to the town of Damme where we had lunch from the farmer's market that was wrapping up. Cold Belgian waffles and fruit for the girls (they said they were the best waffles they've ever had), baguette, cheese and salami for me, Josh and Ben. Delicious, and the price was right! ... mountain chain of Mount Sibillini reaches its peak at Mount Vettore, 2,476 metres in the heart of the Marche region.
The charm of the abbeys, monasteries, hermitages and churches, and the medieval historical town centers lying in a crown at the foot of the mountains, have shaped an old and fascinating world where time has stopped to honor a reality of extraordinary beauty and tranquility (the park has historically lent itself to those seeking ...

Walk a Mile in My Shoes

A travel blog entry by ktwojno on Feb 16, 2010

... as my weekend adventures. Sadly to say this weekend, I may have very little of those, if that. I haven't been feeling too way, and need some rest and will be in Antwerp for the weekend. But then it's off to Berline for 6 days (4 if you count the travel). So hopefully I will have lots of stories to come back with.

In such a short amount of time, I do have to say I have done quite a bit and am enjoying everyday more than the last.

Tots Ziens!
