    ... the hotel, our hotel, had recommended an Italian restaurant not far from the Casa Masoli. We took the option of sipping inside - yep, there was AC. The meals were excellent. Annette had what she described as the best tortellini that she has ever eaten and I had the mixed mate skewers with grilled veg. Mine was top notch.

    ... to climb - bugger, that is when we hit Mt Cootha! A 3km climb that was completed in two parts. Annette handled the first part well until she got about half way when she exited the seat and used her feet. I waited until she caught up with me and we both climbed up the remainder of the mountain.

    On Friday, we traveled by train and walked in the rain.

    Even precipitation is lovely in Italy.

    At the train station, I discovered a vending machine that provided espresso in a tiny plastic cup. It was perfect. Espresso this good shouldn't come from vending machines. Frankly, espresso of any kind shouldn't come from vending machines. Heaven, I'm sure, will be lined ...

    We got off to something of a slow start this morning. In part, this was because we'd arranged to pick up our car from the garage at 11. Unlike most American parking garages, here the cars are parked by the attendant, boxing them in and behind one another, meaning some rearrangement is necessary to pull out any given vehicle.
