... depictions of Jesus blah blah blah, was the Meridian line. The inside of the Basilica was less ornate than I have become used to, it was actually quite plain.

We had lunch at an Italian food court which was varied in choice - pasta, cold meats, cheese or cold meats, cheese and pasta or cheese, pasta and cold meats. We all shared one of each.

After the excitement of San Salvatore and Guercino's tomb, we walked on to San Paolo Maggiore and San Domenico, two more glorious churches with wonderful artwork. San Domenico, where Reni is buried, is described as "a treasure house of Italian art" and rightly so. About the only thing missing for Joy was a hidden Caravaggio! In between these two, Michael found a cute little bar serving great coffee and brioches ...

... of the stalls of the Christmas street market. Now all he has to do is pack the dirty socks and then go round to the post office tomorrow again. Incidentally, Italian post offices are great places to see numerous breeds of dog. Why do people take a dog on a trip to the post office, where they surely know from experience they will have a long wait, and the dogs will bark and squabble?

... palazzi, churches galore, old style shops, and miles of covered arcades, all with a unique appearance. The predominant colour is the warm brown typical of northern Italy - another thing Joy swoons over!

Eventually we met up at the gallery again, and having freshened up with a glass of wine and a rest in the hotel, went out to look for dinner. By chance we found another "Rosarose", and couldn't beleive our luck. ...

... have been tagliatelle with bolognese sauce, not spaghetti! So people who visit Bologna looking to eat some authentic spaghetti bolognese... you ain't going to find any! There honestly wasn't too much to see around town but the characteristic red tiled roofs on each building gave the city a nice look.
