      Under the Tuscan Sun

We spent a week in Cortona, Italy in a beautiful villa thanks to the generosity of Ken and Sally. The villa had 7 bedrooms, gorgeous grounds and a driver assigned to take us wherever we wanted. Joining us on this trip were a group of friends all linked through AGIFORS (an operational research study group Greg was part of) and all were retired ...

... you don't want any. In general, when you are sitting down at a trattoria, restaurant, or cafe, just take your time and don't worry about how long the service takes. The server will get to you when he/she can, and unless you speak the language, there's not much you can do about it. ... park (which I had to carry back. It was hefty, with about 200 rocks in the bag). She then proceeded to empty the bag out on the floor, so dirt went everywhere, left it there for a while and then we through it away. So, that was worth it....
Still, all in all, a not bad day. It went on for quite a long time (about 24 hours I believe) but that's probably only because I was exhausted! Admittedly my own fault (I managed somehow to stay up until ...

... a medieval festival – part of the May Day festivities. Quite exciting and great through narrow streets.Climbed up to Rocca Maggiore, a fantastic 14th century runined castle. Great views and fascinating covered walkways etc. Gave you a real feel for what it would have been like during siege times.Stopped at Panicale on the way back to the apartment. Amazing church for such a small ...
