So yesterday (Sat 11-28), In Mi, Ji Yeon, and I went for a visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace. It is the oldest and biggest palace of the 4 palaces in Seoul. It was built in 1395 and it has chinese characters written on parts of the building because Koreans used the Chinese language a long time ago until some other prince invented the Korean language. At the beginning of the last century, the Japanese invaded Korea and it wasn't until 1945 that Korea gained it's indepence ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. aurora_21... you to decide.
I cannot stress how strongly opposed to war I am. When I see a Canadian commander telling his soldiers that the men they will set out to kill are "****ing animals" because they laid the boots to a fallen solider (which is not cool at all) I understand the psychological process being implemented here. It's called dehumanization and it's essential to do this in war to ensure that a soldier is trained to not look at the target in his scope as a living person, but as ...
... I enjoy my job, it is still quite clear that it is poorly organised, and at times it is pure comedy. Judging by the number of similar stories on the message boards, I would suggest that it is a common trait of Korean bussiness practice, and I'll never get my head around some things, such as the way things are always left until the last minute. Communication is often poor as well, with the following examples all occurring in very quick succession:

... with fright, chiding myself for being silly and falling asleep. I was delirious!
Then I met the manager of the hakwon that I was going to be working at. She was a petite Korean woman...so my worries were a bit alleviated. But, when she met me, she ushered me to my apartment. "Oh, sorry, I just got the apartment this morning. Do you mind helping me clean it a bit?" What was I to say? I helped! As I was ...
... is like the Forbidden City in Beijing, but the architectonic style and colors are the difference. An interesting point inside this Palace is the Folkloric Museum that is a White Pagoda and in the gardens is a display of the 12 symbols of the Chinese Zodiac.
From our visit to the Palace we go back to Namsan, but this time to take the cable car up to the N Tower, another of the Seoul's Sights, the night view form that place of the ...
... an LG Twins game at Jamsil Stadium!!! We were psyched- Kara wore her Cardinals tshirt and I had on my Cubs shirt. We were curious to see how different a baseball game would be there compared to America--very different! They don't eat hot dogs and peanuts- instead it's sushi and dried fish. They don't spend a ton of money on beer and concessions inside the stadium- instead they have everything for sale outside and you can bring it all in- it was great- we bought beer ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. trow814... Korean meal. This was a really neat experience. We had to take our shoes off at the door (which Ian forgot to do) and the meal was communal. There were 2 big grills in the middle of our table where we grilled all of our meat and everything else (rice, seaweed, kimchi and many different looking foods that I can't spell out) were all shared between us. We also drank the famous 'Soju' that Koreans seem to ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. iankristin... they like to do for fun. Although....there are thee boys who are already the bain of my existence! I can't tell yet if they are bored because this stuff is too easy for them or if they are frustrated because they are lost. So that will take a bit of special attention to figure the problem out. Oh, and one of the kid's mothers brought me a coffee today as a thank you for teaching her son! I thought that was so nice! All around, this is pretty easy and I felt really ...
Seoul, Korea Rep. april.abate... trips to Korea (shouting obscenities at the top of my lungs in markets, getting yelled at by monks... etc.), the last thing I needed was to collapse on the floor of the airport in a big blubbering mess.
Mum was set to arrive before me, so I had given her instructions on how to catch the airport bus. But in the process of catching it, Mum had a wee mishap. While she was waiting for the bus, a guy came over and tried to talk to her. She assumed he was a cab driver, or ...
