... the world. So after surveying the treasures of the Ottoman Empire we headed off on the next stop of our whirlwind touring day, the Hagia Sophia.

The Hagia Sophia is a former Greek Orthodox Church from the Byzantine era that was later converted to a mosque in 1453 with the Ottoman’s conquering of Turkey. The Hagia Sophia is famous for its architecture as well as the interesting juxtaposition of Islamic and Christian artifacts and art work. Some of the ...

We hit the Topkapi Palace, primary resistance of the Ottoman Sultans for about ...

... and early on a Saturday morning, quite happy to leave the grey cloud of London behind.

We started with the south west coast, flying into Izmir we jumped into the rental car and headed straight for Pamukkale. The rental wasn’t the flashiest thing around with plenty of scrapes and dents, something that would prove valuable when driving on Turkey’s roads – no need to worry if adding a couple more. ...

Istanbul - Impressive, lavish & massive Mosques

... westernised ( you don't see many burqhas or covered faces here).

As the sun set over Istanbul it was an impressive sight with the mosques in the background ...although ominous when three fighter jets screamed across the sky overhead,,reminding us the unrest with neighbouring Syria.

A country that we would love to revisit, so intriguing with so much more to see...another to put down on the bucket list to return to....we have our guides business ...
