... The tall felt camel hat represents a tombstone, the black cloak represents earthly attachments. The white is similar to a shroud Muslims are wrapped in when they die. OK, maybe more than you want to know, but I bet you wondered what was with all the garb! It was a fascinating ceremony. Those guys twirled for a good 30-40 minutes, only stopping briefly and then restarting. Crazy!!! Tomorrow we meet up with our tour group, but before that....a Turkish bath is in the ...

... and just amazing. I also caught Annie admiring pottery, just like the stuff we have just given away when we left Oman..... it stayed in the bazar.

We bought sandwiches from stalls by the Column of Constantine, reminded me of Nelson's Column. I also snapped the lady at the base of the tower and was sure I heard Julie Andrews singing....

... was an excellent view of the coastline and the many grand buildings and mosques that line it, such as the Rumeli Fortress at the narrowest point of the Strait.

I also took a boat with Eda, my second Turkish former au pair, to visit the Princes Islands off the eastern shores of the city.
