... meatballs , tripe disguised in a tomato sauce and gristle . Some of these entrees were not what I had in mind, especially the tripe and yes they actually eat gristle!! Our mains were better : slow cooked mutton, some veal and the porceddu which was really nice. Desserts aren't really what you come to Sardinia for; a large delicious looking fruit platter which I sent back because that is not what I could have eaten at 9.30 at ...

    Thursday in Cabras

Today we got up and decided to just go into a smaller city nearby, Oristano, probably the third largest city here in Sardinia. GPS got us in not too far from the Tourist info centre which was a good start. We walked around the place all morning, very hot ,ended up sitting in tourist centre air con deciding what to do this afternoon! Well naturally we went to the beach to test out the Mediteranean. Booked a boat trip last night to Grotta Di Nettuno which is a large cave down the coast line at Cape Caccia. We boarded at the wharf in Alghero for a 30 minute trip past some white sandy beaches, flash beach resorts and high rises and high cliffs.

Once we got there they cleverly unfolded the plank and we walked into the mouth of the cave. It was quite an amazing space in there with ...

We slept in this morning, got up late from being over tired as the twisty roads really take it out of you! Both of us have to be vigilant watching out for sudden speeding motorists and roads to nowhere as well as the lunatics!

We finally got moving this morning and went into town walking around in the heat. Alghero is a nice little city perched on the coastline and I am really liking it a lot.

    All the central city ...
