We left then and walked up to the Q1 building which has a 360 view of the Gold Coast from the 77th floor. We headed up to the observation deck where we took in the spectacular view and had a bit of a snack. Well now that the inside resembles a gutted whale I thought I should remove all the aluminium edging to se what lies beneath.

... it all the wine was stored in the chippy's fridge, served in really nice wine glasses and the whole lot came in at around $30 inc wine, who said Australia was expensive. If an equivalent meal was available in Poole or Bath (it isn't) with the kind of friendly service and fantastic view of the river it would have cost at least double or even treble what we paid. ... it much easier as they would hold my board and push me off as a good wave came so I was catching lots and standing up quite well. When it came to paddling back to shore we were quite far out but it was still shallow enough to stand up. We had to paddle against the outgoing tide which was actually easier than I had thought but the boys and 1 of the instructors had gotten caught in a bit of a current so ended up on a completely different beach on the other side of the bay. ...
