Just finished posting my impromptu trip to Nasau and Exuma, Bahamas experiencing the real Bahamas.
I am patiently waiting for my passport to be returned to me by Fedex. My passport is in the Italian Consulate in Miami for my Schengen Visa.
Funny, coz, I already have everything arranged, trip ticket and reservation to hostels, except for the Schengen Visa.

For now, I have to start digging up and practicing again my Spanish tongue.
Meanwhile, let me take you to a place where people go to on Wedbnesday nights here in Freeport. Fish ...

Freeport, Bahamas bakasyonista... the sails and did not loose much speed, about a knot or two. The only real worry was how we were going to get through the very narrow, rock-lined inlet once arriving at Port Lucaya. Around 4 or 5 am we could see the lights from Grand Bahama Island, a very good sight, and we sailed around Free Port, dodging cargo and cruise ships. Soon the sun rose around 6:30 and we could see the inlet in the distance. As we neared the entrance, we ...
Freeport, Bahamas outbound5... but it was not time. The Captain made an announcement that we almost didn't dock because of the storm. We docked later than expected....but the skies had cleared and it was going to be a great day in Freeport. Finally we were cleared by customs and the exit was opened. It took a while for the passengers ahead of us to shuffle towards the exit. Then it was our turn to set foot on the island....but not before the card was punched and the familiar...BLONG ...
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Bahamas starr_sun... way back from dinner, we take a stroll around the yacht basin. There are some beautiful boats here, from all over the world. There is a sailing yacht form England in the slip next to ours, and a yacht named Holy Cow from Austin Texas a few slips away. The Holy Cow has the doors open and the owners are watching the big screen plasma TV, which is imbedded in the pink marble mantel of the fireplace. Not my idea of a boat, but fun to look at.
Freeport, Bahamas dragon762... Saturday we embarked on a Blackbeard's Cruise where we joined 21 other divers and 6 crew members on the 65ft Morning Star sailboat. I'm sure that even the most math-challenged among you can see that didn't leave a lot of square footage per wet-suited wannabe. Nonetheless, Blackbeard's has been doing this a long time so the boat, the system, and the crew are all pretty efficient at helping 29 strangers co-exist in perpetual motion. As for that end of things ...
