Anyway, back to my day…From the memorial I could see a staircase cut into the rock. It seemed to disappear into the Lower Barrakka Gardens, so I went there and tried to find where it came out, but couldn’t find them! It shall now be known as ‘the mystery of the vanishing steps.’ ...

... we took a ride in the Upper Barrakka Lift. It’s a 20 storey scenic lift which was installed in late 2012. It’s 58 metres high and can carry 21 people at a time. The journey only takes 25 seconds, and you can feel you stomach drop a little! It’s the fastest way from the Grand Harbour into the city, which is great for Valletta’s tourism because people come directly off the cruise ships into the city.

... been working very hard training other interns. I'm also doing some research into a Master's Degree (MA TESOL and Applied Linguistics). It looks extremely challenging and a little daunting (especially the 20,000 word dissertation at the end!) but ultimately 2015 would be the best time to do it and opens doors for me.

... around there that I got a taste of my first pastizzi, a local pastry from the area. There are two different kinds: pea and ricotta cheese. I wasn't quite convinced about pea flavored pastries, so I went with the ricotta. So. Good. Warm, buttery, flaky, ricotta-filled golden deliciousness. I'm definitely going to miss those.
