After almost 8 hours on the road we finally made it to Escanaba and our lodging for the night: Sunset Lodge, an independent locally owned motel. They were very welcoming of us and our hounds. A late night bite at Hudsons Bar and Grill and fast asleep. The next morning we woke and did some work before hitting the road around 10:30a to St ...

I foolishly endured this dangerous hell for 45 miles before meeting up with my savior, Maura, ...

We left Sturgeon Bay WI yesterday and arrived in Rapid City, Mi. Will be here total of 2 nights. Need to catch up on Sturgeon Bay: It was cool during our visit and a couple of nights we cracked the heat on. The local folks are still waiting for their summer to arrive before fall starts in September. Despite the severe winter ...

... the 'Door' part of it stuck. Wisconsin is quite proud of it's tragic maritime heritage. At each state park there is at least one informational display about a shipwreck off the coast, complete with details of the ship, how it met its end and photos of what wreckage still survives (complete with scuba divers).

It's ironic that such a lovely place has such a calamitous lineage. I don't remember where I ran across mention of Door County when I ...
