... it was so pretty and quaint! We had a quick lunch at Ios Bakery and then meandered the little alleyways around the hill - really cute with canopies of flowers hanging over the walkways and decorating the whitewashed buildings. The town has a mixture of clothing and jewellery boutiques, cafés and bars - perfect for tourists, and it was easy to imagine that it would be pumping in summer.

The rest of the day was very low key - a 2 hour nap ...

It was far too busy and hot so I decided to head home with a couple of guys also in our tour group. We couldn't find the 24 hour bakery so had to make do with Doritos on the 30 minute walk. ... back it was almost death by strangulation. Did we actually pay good money for this? Finally we reached the top and where Homer's tomb was (they think), not terribly interesting, but it did remind me that I had never finished reading the Iliad, oops, perhaps I would have another go.

For the next two days we persevered in our exploration, sometimes we were protected from the wind and it was fun again, other times it was a shock of painful head lifting ...

    ... in about 2.5hrs, not 5.5hrs.

First stop was the volcano island but what we hadn't known about the tour was that this stop required a one hour hike to the 130m top of the crater... and we were all in thongs! So yeah, we made it about halfway up and went, thats enough for us LOL

The downside of being on a boat tour is that you can't leave, so we had to sit at the base of the island near the boat and wait for the next hour til the others on the ...
