... I wanted to wake up, but I'm not sure how well ill sleep on a train again.

Our hotel is actually attached to the train station, making travel really easy. It's also the nicest and most western hotel of the trip. The toilet also has a heated seat and the other features (except music). We grabbed a quick dinner at a restaurant next to the hotel. ... and after 10 minutes I gave up and used a fork. The meal was very nice and, after my last experience with edible mollusks, I was surprised at how much I liked the scallops.

It was nearly 4 o'clock by this time so I finished up, thanked the chef and headed back to the hostel to check in.

We may not have had a common language but the laughing smile he gave me as I said a cheery 'arigatou' on my way out made my day.

... have to leave that at reception - now although reception is open 24hrs, you soon realise how annoying it is if you forget something and have to rush back downstairs to get it. When you checkin your given oversize pyjamas, towels and slippers and a locker in which you can store valuables (useful, as capsules don't lock - they only have a blind you can pull down)
