We got up at a leisurely pace again this morning and set off back towards Chania driving west along the northern coast. We stopped at Rethymno which has an old Venetian section and port a lot like Chania. We at lunch facing the old harbor, but were all a little disappointed at the meal. ... didn't work out. The ferry took us past a couple of the stopping off at a beautiful one in a crescent shaped bay with all the white washed buildings lining the beach. We got off at the second village stop where we boarded a bus back to Chania. But to get back into the mountains and off the coast we went through more switchbacks. Equipped with scuba diving accreditation earned the previous summer in Indonesia, we walked down to the beach front offices of Kalypso Rock Diving. We were then driven to the dive site, a splendid little 100-meter-long cove that allowed for shore-based dives of different types.
