Sillian, Austria to Trzic, Slovenia 150 miles

The blazing sun sapped all our energy so all we could do was watch the sky. But what a sky to watch. It hasn't been getting dark here until nearly 10pm but at 7.30pm the skies began to darken. What was a totally clear blue sky started to turn dark and foreboding, though only from one direction, from one particular mountain. Dark cloud rose up like a volcanic eruption, or a nuclear explosion, from, funnily enough, ...

... today. Straight into Austria (the border was a handful of miles from Fussen) we discovered a stunning country neither of us ever thought we'd visit. I remember seeing it from 30000ft flying to Greece many years ago and it had the wow factor then. Nothing has changed. It's incredible. ... and arrived in Canazei in the 'siesta hour' so everywhere was quiet. We wandered a bit and then decided only 'mad dogs and English men' are stupid enough to wander about at lunchtime so we stopped at an outdoor terrace bar and had 'due bicchieri di vino bianco'. Foxes & Corries - you would of been proud of us just chilling for a bit and not going at a hundred miles an hour trying to fit in as much as possible! (We did have to ...

We left Camping Ampersee at 9:00 and headed down the Autobahn into Munich, along with every other car in Germany!! Yes of course there were some more roadworks just to slow things down a little more. Then to finally put the nail in the coffin of the myth of German efficiency the two major Autobahns that we need to drive on are linked by using a central highway through the metropolis of Munich. Traffic lights, junctions, shops, schools... ...
