... and google maps) this was supposed to be one of our longest travel days, but it ended up being only about 3 hours. We were able to travel along a two lane highway south instead of traveling northeast to the "routa 5". There was really nothing that we wanted to stop and see along the way so we arrived at about 2 pm to our next stop of Chillan. Wow. It was not at all what I expected.

... get to the waterfalls (which is what I really wanted to see) around 7.30 pm and the sun had gone. It was still great to see the waterfalls, but it didn't wow me as I thought it would. I think if we hadn't had all the problems earlier in the day and got there with plenty of time to spend then I would have appreciated it more. Ah well, I have to look on the bright side. Even though I am spending about 9 hours on the bus ...

... br> Chillan is a small town with a large central square. This square was the gathering place for all the locals, young and old. It had huge trees and plenty of benches and grassy areas providing shade and a peaceful setting in which to relax. Across from the square was the ever present church, a rather unique structure.

We enjoyed our couple of days here, and also planned our trip and booked our hostel in Santiago, our next stop.

I was taking picture, just to pass the time, and there she was all 1 and a half feet of your running down the hall laughing at her sister.
