3 days to cover!

... we'd take it one station at a time. Paying the minimum cost to the next transfer station we went underground. Luckily when we walking we discovered that the current station was also attached to another one that had the Ginza line on it. So it would only require 1 transfer at Shimbashi station to get home, and we would likely save some money. So, we walked in the direction we were instructed by the Ginza line signs. What we didn't realize is that the walk would ...

Day 2 - Konnichiwa Japan

... very much like any city as we approached it, but as we got onto the streets, they reminded me of a mix between NYC, San Francisco, and London. They drive on the opposite side of the streets.. I didn't know that. We finally arrived at the hotel and settled into our tiny rooms. My closet had only 2 hangers, but I was able to snag 4 more from the front desk... phew ...

T-O-K-Y-O

... the beaten track and took advice of some locals Olivia's friends with about great places to eat and drink that tourists dont get too. In point form and no particular order we did; * Shinjuku - claim to fame being the busiest subway station in the WORLD. I can vouch for that. it was unreal. Shinjuku has a load of bars, neon, shops, department stores. It has quiet bars that squeeze in about 15 people to major clubs. Always busy, and a lot of fun. We visited here ...

On the bullet train

... of respect...and respect is what we saw in Ginza. Huge buildings, custom designed and dedicated to each fashion label. Forget about Gucci, H**mes having their own custom wackily designed 6 floor show rooms, but when a tiny watch company like Audmars Peaget (I know I've butch**ed the name) has its own 5 story showroom, that's a symbol of respect right th**e. I did some more research which showed that on av**age, these luxury brands get about 20-35% of their global revenue from ...

The Adventures of Frankyo Tokyo (Part 6)

Today was a big day(and my last.). Kina arrived after I finished my free breakfast to take me to the best sight places in Tokyo. We went to a tower called Tokyo Garden Tower were you could see all of Tokyo from the top. There was some gardens in there and we ate lunch there. I let her pay after all she invited me. She told me that night was going to be the Fuji Rock Festival in which all these Japanese rock bands ...

Museum on a Monday? Think Again!

... i'd treat myself to a beer. Quite an expensive beer at 700 yen (nearly £3) for little more than half a pint...but the way I saw it was when would I next be having a beer this high up in a building? In Tokyo no less! I have wanted to come to Tokyo for years so that was a real "I did it" moment. More amusing theme tunes up here too, this time it was "zippidy do da." These little breaks also give you time to plan ahead and review your itinerary. I've decided to ...

Narita to Tokyo

Our flight, which lasted nearly ten hours was smooth from start to finish. We arrived at Narita at 3:44 PM Today...a sixteen or seventeen hour time difference! The Perils of Pauline routine starts upon our arrival. We exit the plane, take an escalator up a couple of flights, then decide to head for the restroom. I came out before Rochelle and I'm waiting and waiting and wondering what's taking her so long. While pondering her absence I suddenly ...

abnormal or normal?

Sometimes I get the feeling that if you do anything for long enough, no matter how crazy it may seem at first, eventually the threads of normalcy begin to intertwine with those of abnormality until the 2 become indestinguishable from one another. or maybe I'm just crazy. I can't believe it, but I've done it. I'm in Japan, I'm safe and sound, and yes, I dance topless for a living. of course, that's not all I do, for if it ...

Kazuo eats fugu livers like they're candy

... fish known to many of us through an episode of the Simpsons where Homer believes he ate bad fugu. The fish has to be prepared just right, cut with a precision narrower than the depth of a sheet of paper, or the poison contained in the blood and liver will get you. We agreed to go out for fugu with a few of the guys the next night, and while I was generally content to go into it as blindly as possible, Ryan took it upon himself to regale me with fun fugu facts while we were at an ...

Tokyo - 2nd Day

... fully decked out in the most "stylish" clothes which look just rediculous to us. We walk around a few blocks looking for a cheap dinner and settle on diner of sorts. There is a vending machine on the right and left as your enter with pictures and prices on it. You pay the machine (about 5$ each), choose you dinner and take the ticket it spits out. Find a few stools at the bar counter and place the ticket in front of you. One of the servers comes by and calls your order into ...
