... tasty.
Our trip through beer land at an end, we climb into the van to go to the Koneprusy caves. They are living caves with three levels but we can only visit 2 levels. Lots of steps, around 500. My legs are quite irritated that I went through the whole cave. Thought to give my hip some rest today by going on a tour. Opps. Forgot walking in caves is never restful for arthritis.
Fun day
... in it's main square.).
The brewery tour was 90 mins long and I'm sure the gentleman conducting the tour was the human muse for the creation of 'The Count' on sesame street, his hair didn't move, sadly there were no mirrors anywhere so I couldn't check for a reflection... He was a brilliant tour leader and was happy to answer any ...
Today we went to the Pilsner Urquell brewery in Plzen. Pilsner, the type of beer, originated here, where Pilsner Urquell was brewed from local crops and local mineral water. The tour was awesome. We saw the traditional brew kettles and the modern ones, as well as a very modern new packaging plant. We also tasted some unpastuerized beer directly from fermenting barrels.
... we camped at this weird, seemingly abandoned hotel. After we ride miles out of our way to get there this lady tells me in broken few words and mostly hand gestures that we can't stay there it's only for people of an association. I'm not sure if it was my puppy dog eyes or my deadly looks but in the end she let us camp out back. It was kinda weird because we were the only ones there.
Stahlavy, Czech Republic randyandchrissy... charm, but with a patina of decay, the legacy of communism and several subsequent political unheavals. This country has one of the most fascinating political histories and we look forward to learning more as we explore. We are already crashing our way through Slavic Languages 101. I was getting a little cocky in Germany, where I was starting to get by pertty well after only a week, because there are enough similarities to English to start connecting dots. Well, THAT has certainly ...
Plzen, Bohemia, Czech Republic steffeff... orgy." "The light is for the animals... without eyes....flies...BATMAN! No bat, bat." "You like beer here? We're only country where beer is cheaper than soda or water. If they raise prices we will REVOLT!" After spending several hours just sitting on a bench and laughing at every word to come out of Thomas's mouth, Johnny and I decided to head out to the Pilsner Urquell brewery for a tour. Now they did not have a beer fountain ...
Plzen, Bohemia, Czech Republic durnadupa... the fermentation process and is usually recycled for the next batch- was still present making the beer cloudy. Impressed with my knowledge of beer and.. beer accessories?? I think its more of my geekyness seeking through than anything else...) Onwards and upwards.. the brewery had a kinda neat life sized chess board with pieces of various Pilsner paraphernalia. Exciting Huh?
Plzen, Czech Republic drconsulHey friends, this week was boring again. I spent a lot of it hanging out with myself as Meghan's mom was in town, so they spent a bunch of time together, and Kristen went to Greece. I lot of the people who stayed in town this weekend (which wasn't many) had tests this week and spend a lot of time studying. Jerks, putting their scholastic needs ahead of my good times... Anyway, I spent a lot of time on my computer watching movies and whatnot, and in the day, I walked around a ...
Prague, Czech Republic lorybelle... two tubs, a board on two sawhorses, a scale, and two butchers. People buy the fish and take it home live for the kids to play with until Christmas Eve, or the butcher kills the fish, guts it, and puts everything in a plastic bag. The head and entrails are used for traditional soup. The meat is usually fried and served with cold potato salad. Not everyone practices the custom, but it appears that a majority of people do. The differences in daily life continue to amaze us ...
Prague, Czech Republic frednmarty... is from the weekly Prague Post and the Manchester Guardian. It's fun hearing the trams passing by. Thievery is common. When we met with the rental agent today, we told her about Ms's wallet. She said that these people are good. She just lost her cell phone out of her purse. 25 October-Saturday Another cold day. After breakfast at home we played tourist. We walked along the Vltava (Moldau). It was a nice walk. Cold and off and on clouds. We decided it was time to buy hats. Went ...
