Pilsner Urquell has been brewed at this same brewery since 1842, and they say the Pilsen lager inspired more than 2/3 of the world’s pilsner labelled beers. Thank you Pilsen! The best part of the tour was at the end where we tasted unfiltered and non-pasteurised Pilsner Urquell beer tapped straight from the oak lager barrels. Ahhhhhhhh!

From lunch we found the summer castle. Skies had cleared so it was perfect timing.
The castle was closed for the day but the gardens were quite beautiful. We wandered about for some time before heading down the path to some Hungarian Coffee, a coffee with egg liquor.

Compared to the Budvar tour, the Urquell tour had all the hallmarks of a global beer company (SAB Miller) - flashy video presentations, massive scale and a big bus to transport everyone around the facility to do the tour (Budvar was all on foot).
