... s now able to be interpreted. Linear B is mostly symbols that mean words. It’s really cool to see an ancient language written on slabs of stone. It’s like something we imagine when we think of cavemen.
A ways away from the ancient city and museum is the famous Treasury of Atreus. It’s a huge self-supported bee-hive shaped tomb. It was built as a tomb for one of the kings of Mycenae, but who it was is unknown. Before the excavations of ...
Hi everybody,

... other tourists testing it out too. The whole theater was just amazing. The reason it is so well-preserved is because it was forgotten about a long time ago and eventually was covered in dirt- due to the natural effects of being situated on a hillside. The dirt kept it preserved so when the theater was excavated only a couple steps had to be replaced in some of the high rows. Another cool thing was ...
Epidavros, Peloponnese, Greece mdaaCycled into the ancient theater of Epidavros - heralded to be the best preserved of the ancient world, and I believe it could be true.
Immense in size it can seat 14 000 people, and it’s still used today. Built into the surrounding hillside, it’s extremely stable and it shows. Barely any decay even though it was made in the 3rd century BC. Incredible to see how perfect the ...
... On the way up, the view was amazing and ever-changing (but really hot and tiring). Every few stairs and winds the view would slowly change, bringing on a new angle to the town and water below. When we got to the top we were surprised at how much bigger the fortress is on the inside compared to how big it looks from the outside. We spent a long time wandering around the inside. We climbed up to the lookout points, saw the prison cells ...

Spetes was a perfect island to kick back for a day. This island was an escape for refugees during Turkish invasion. People prospered here as shipbuilders. At one time the island was covered with pine but most were cut down to meet the needs of the shipbuilders. A man born on Spetes, came to the USA to find his fortune and when that happened he went back ...
Spetes, Greece mnbealThe season is now really ramping up so it is definitely time for a holiday! Andy has done a couple of weeks of yacht training and really enjoyed it, and I've had a lot of fun in the beach department. I got my safety boat qualification signed off and so am now really a senior instructor, and even trusted with our 75HP powerboat for the first time.
Lots of lovely guests have ...
... hidden passages. I'm sure we could have died a number of ways (plenty of sheer drops to sharp rocks) and it was probably one of those things you don't tell mom about until after you do it. It was exciting to spend that time in a place with such a long history of occupation (Venetians, Ottomans, Franks, and Greeks). In my opinion it was well worth the 830 step climb down! And the only injury...DL with a sprained ankle.
Nafplion, Greece eurotrekker05I once again awoke to the blissful silence that permeated over Hydra Town. While I didn't particularly enjoy awaking at 5:30 A.M. to turn the hot water on, my discomfort was mitigated by the experience of watching the harbor come to life in relative silence. I’ve been to quite a few places which captured the feeling of being back in a different era. But, I’ve never been to a place where I felt that emotion as deeply as I did in Hydra.
