      Antalya

Our free day in Antalya, yeah! We got up and had a relatively leisurely breakfast for us, 8am. After a bit of organising we headed off to explore the old city of Antalya which is about a 10 minute walk from our hotel. The weather is stunningly good - clear blue skies and sunshine - so everyone is in a good frame of mind and happy to be wandering around outside. The old town was established between 138-159 BC (just ...

      Pamukkale

We left the hotel this morning to head to the white terraces of Pamukkale. By the way, I won the battle with the hotel - yes, one up for the tourist! The white terraces at Pemukkale are made of white calcium carbonate, or travertine, a kind of limestone. They are spectacular to look at as they are white cliffs gleaming in the sunshine and visible from a long way away. They are a bit of an oddity in ...

      Antalya and a Haircut!

This morning we walked down to the Port area with stunning views over the water to snow capped mountains from the Taurus range.

Lots of locals and tourists around as it was a lovely sunny day. Heaps of cafés and restaurants. We walked around the water for a while and sat in the sun.

Antalya is a lovely city - very laid back and a nice vibe about it. The sun helps!

... non stop on his two mobile phones, in between drinking tea, eating, smoking and talking to people on the bus. At one stage he had no hands on the wheel! He came close to having a punch-up with another man at a cafe stop and seemed even more rattled and erratic after that. It didn't help that we had front row seats and could see it all. We both fell sleep in the end which was probably just as well!

Saklikent Gorge - Could stay here for a few days

... freezing cold river. A group of us, went for a walk up the George instead where you are encouraged to rub the mud into your skin after you've waded through thigh high freezing water.

Our hotel is very nice and puts on a decent buffet dinner each night. Although this buffet system here seems to be, they put the food out at 7pm and once it runs out, that's it. No replenishment and it's not kept warm.

Had a nice chat with Leo and Lauren from Sth Africa after ...
