      ... wait. (400 cruise tourists were on excursions to Corcovado plus others! We think the Tijuca Park van people were trying to control numbers at the top.) Finally, up the winding hill we went, through Tijuca forest, the largest urban forest reserve in the world and actually man made.       ... every little inch is covered with somebody's initials or whatever they do. It's really such a shame.

      Deb and I finished things off at Eclipse - an real nice Italian place just near our hotel. They didn't disappoint. So we're off to the airport in the morning to head to Toronto via Panama. How that makes any sense is above me, but we've got a 12 hour flight not including our layover in Panama. I haven't calculated ...

Part of the wonder of Rio is turning a corner in Santa Theresa, looking out from Vidigal or sitting on the beach and seeing Christ the Redeemer watching over the city day and night. So when you are up there with the statue, you miss that great site of the city. The beaches I spent most of my time on either Ipanema or Copacabana beaches.
