Ipanema Beach House is a must stay if you ever hit Rio. The people, staff and facilities are absolutely awesome and it's a great mix between chill and party. For those of you that know me well, you know I have an annoying love for a drinking game – and between 8-10pm at Ipanema Beach House, ...

... was to get back to our ****** wee room that night. Saying goodbye to the lady who owned the hostel shortly after we got back a gunshot rang out from somewhere disturbingly close by. Favela fun was definitely over. Safe out of the ghetto in two pieces the next morning, we were treated to some spectacular final views of the city from the plane. ... both Ipanema and Copacabana beach and they were just as nice as we had heard. Soft white sand and blue sea. The beaches were really packed but that is probably to be expected given that Rio is such a huge city and although a crowded beach is usually probably a negative, in this case, it added to the atmosphere and made them really cool places to hang out. We also went to the Maracana football stadium which is where the World Cup final was held in 2014. Although it ...
