Hi Everyone,

Halkidiki is in the Northern part of Greece. It is a peninsula resembling the shape of a hand with three fingers. We stayed on the second finger, in an area called Neos Marmara. We stayed with my cousins and grandparents right across the road from the beach. We had a big balcony, but my cousins hotel had a pool, and we swam in the pool everyday.

... island. It provided good shelter from the prevailing wind but we could not discover a spot to anchor with less than 20 meters depth. We motored on a further 10 miles to Voufalo a gorgeous little bay with only one other sail boat at anchor. As instructed in the pilot we dropped anchor behind the sand bank.

We left early (8:30 !!) hoping to catch enough wind to sail, but to no avail. We had an uneventful trip with a little excitement as we came around the top of Kea. There we sighted the mainland of Greece, the first mainland we had seen since we started our trip this year.

A day trip to Nea Styra allowed us to go for a nice swim with a return ferry boat ride.
we enjoyed the small ferry ride weather so nice got to Arlene and nicks condo with nicks dad then set up and had coffee then down to the beech for a nice swim along with a walk we returned in the afternoon
for the evening we went for a coffee and ice cream along the beech in Athens with loads of people around ...

... justice as there was a constant haze of smoke caused by farmers burning off the cotton crop after it is harvested. Such a shame! Ancient Delphi and the Sanctuary of Apollo were a little disappointing, but this was only because we have been outrageously spoiled and had seen far better ancient sites in our earlier travels.
