We made it off the island just in time... we had to take our shoes off and wade accross the causeway... this is probably the closest I will get Kim to going into the Atlantic in the North hemisphere.
Next stop was the Lizard peninsular, the guide book said if you made the effort to go here then you would be rewarded. Unfortunately it was very similar to the rest of the coastline we had seen over the previous days so we were ...
... YUM!!!
To work that off we took the long way back to our van via the coastal nature walk. Although still warm the clouds started to close in which seemed quite appropriate fo the scene.
We we got back to the van it started drizzling with rain. It continued off and on for the rest of the day.
I slept like a log and not a wonder with all that exercise yesterday.
It was dead low tide first thing in the morning so nothing doing on the wave front. Kim and I go for a walk in Newquay town and take a few photos and do some shopping.
10.30 and I in head for a surf for 2 hrs. Clean chest high fun waves and I'm surfing with a bit more confidence having blown away the cobwebs the day before.
Ahhh now I really feel like I'm ...
... and Kim is content to laze about in the sun 18-20 degrees and not a cloud inthe sky - hard to believe it is mid-october.
Kim found a nice coastal walk to keep her occupied while I was happy as a pig in sh!t scoring waves.
Exhausted we found a spot to park a street or 2 from the beach front to spend the night.
... of £50/day (inc fuel) to allow us to travel for the next 6 months.
So, this flash place was not for us. We decided to continue forth up the road 15 min to a "Caravan Park"... quite literally a cow paddock where you could park your van. But a £3 the price was right and we were tired and could not be bothered searching any further.
Atleast there was a place ...
... and heading to St Pancras. The bus there wasn't without a hitch though - the driver got confused at the Euston bus station adn started on his return route too early, meaning that he had to do three point turn his double decker on Southhampton Row... which despite the error was pretty impressive!
Struggling ...
... tiredness has taken over and slowed me down.
Why is it older people shout when they are on the phone, I am glad though as it was entertaining and how much you can learn from a one way conversation. I have no idea where it came from but it was a mans voice. He was speaking to his friend "Steve" Now he was telling Steve he was delayed a week for the start of his holiday because he lost his brother (I wonder if he found him) he had spent a few days in Somerset ...
... out of the car for a somewhat closer look. We decided that next time we're going to plan w-a-a-y ahead and buy an ...
St. Austell, England, United Kingdom kegibson... and the mother in law put her two pennies in as well and I would love to say how much I appreciated that.
Ebay was the place to start and we went and had a look at an M reg van just down teh road for £12750 with 6,000 miles on the clock but it had gaslow and 130 watts of solar power on the roof with a huge top box. Suitably impressed we thought about it but it was our first van and the mortgage wasnt even applied for. Needless to say we got ideas from this ...
... having someone in the car who knows where they're going (most of the time.. she sometimes got lost too!) We discovered that the roads are not signposted, and after going backroads to everywhere, and still managing on getting lost (with the GPS!) we were stoked to have that boy toy! We saw so much in our Limited time, starting off our 1st night in Plymouth, a coastal town 4 hrs from London. Not a lot ...
