Once completed we took a tour of the back canals of Bangkok and looked at some of the poorer neighbourhoods. The boys were amazed that people swam and washed in the canal water.
We then took the skytrain to JK Weekend market. 35 acres of markets with 5000 stalls and visited by 200 000 people a day. A very easy place to get lost in. We did manage to get them all back.
... beyond anything I’ve ever witnessed in real life before! They had built an extra floor on top of their house to host the sea shell collection as well as a three-story gallery filled with the toys and tins neatly stacked in glass cabinets. It was literarily like a museum, I was surprised they hadn’t opted for Guinness world records or something like that! Both Fabian and I were in a slight state of shock afterwards (or maybe amazement is a better word…). ...
... you who have travelled for long periods of time you will totally get this. It had a fully stocked kitchen and I could do my own laundry with a washer and dryer. It was like being home. It had hot water showers with good pressure and AC in the rooms that was just right. I can't leave now, I have spent months searching for a kitchen to no avail. Now I can finally make myself a home cooked meal. Being able to eat out ...

All too soon it is time to leave and after promises of dinner next Tuesday and an insistance on driving us to the airport on Thursday, we are chauffeured all the way to our door by Nedt. We find out the next day that as they drove away a key had got wedged and flattened their tyre and they then spent time on a fruitless search for an open garage before dumping the car and walking ...
... for a final blow out tomorrow night at one of the expensive restaurants outside, high in the sky for our last meal in Bangkok. So we head down to the pool for a dip. Its dark outside by the time we get there and I float on my back looking up at the tiered balconies stretching 40 floors above me and looking like cake icing or as Jane put it, like birds nests stretching away from us, and beyond that, the black sky and the stars...
