... Area called Sukhamvit right next to the Sky Train. On the way into the hostel I met an Irish guy Bryn and we decided to hang out for the night.. The 1st night was an eye opener to say the least. we walked around the Sukhamvit area , got some nice Thai curry and had a beer and got an early night

BKK: Refill Now: Luxury!

... of their way to make us feel at home, beyond any expectations of a hostel especially at this price. We've extended by an extra 2 days (and more to come I reckon) because it's so luxurious.

Today we slept really late (after lunch!) then went to the weekend markets which were great. We both bought a load of tshirts at bargain basement prices that are bright, colourful and full of cool designs. The quality is great and they only cost 2 quid each or less. I ...

Another Festival of Lights

... holiday is based on the lunar calendar, not a particular set date.) Luckily, our friend, Carolyn was in town and her hotel had mentioned the festival to her. So the 3 of us went to the park together. It was fun to have a guest and explain the meaning and stuff to her. We picked out our khratongs, burned ourselves rather a lot trying to light the candles and incense sticks, and set them ...

... tons of people heckling for a thai massage or a suit or something they are persistant little *******s.
Transportation: people drive so crazy just constant horns motorbikes took tooks(little 3 wheel buggies) and mini cars all weaving and crossing the street u are running or will get hit. Think about millions of asians on a little road with tons of traffic... it was any white persons nightmare.
I walked about 7 hours just exploring one market tired as hell.

I'll have the fried cockroaches, please

... Great! Take that, AT&T. I bum around a bit, then decide to cruise the food stalls. Mysterious fruits, whole fish on a stick, little bags of suspicious looking stuff--and then I see it. The fried bug cart. Fried larvae, grasshoppers, crickets, and yes....cockroaches. I think the guy was a little ****** because I kept taking pictures of his food.

Back "Home"

... made jam for this summer their jam. Wayne tried not to take the gift, but once I told him I didn't buy it, but made it he said ok. After he opened it he was glad he accepted the gift. He had the best reaction. Dr. Bonnie and Cindy both loved theirs as well. I also seem to have lost weight. A lot of people have commented on it including my parents from last year. Christin's mom told me (translated from Korean) "I got prettier." haha...I love ...

Exciting start

... we found our hotel which is nice enough (considering only a fiver a night) has air-con and a TV and 2 single beds only 5 min walk from 'backpacker central' Khao San Road. My mind was whirling and I was a bit overwhelmed, always knew it was going to take some adjustment so I kept that in mind. We then slept for a good chunk of the day until around 5 as we had v little sleep the two previous nights ...

A pause for breath in Bangkok

... games) five years ago is now much more so. The street is about five hundred metres long and is at all times thronged with various farangs (Thai word referring to white foreigners - said to be derived from an Asian pronunciation of 'foreigner'). Stalls selling pirated CDs, jewellery, clothing (knocked off brand names), false ID, knives, lighters, hash pipes and cheap electronics line either side of the road. Also, as elsewhere in Bangkok, are small mobile stalls selling a ...
