Day 11 found us driving 250km up twisting and winding mountain roads to Mestia, one of the most interesting and charming little towns in the Northern-Svaneti region. Watching out for cows on the road, and they are everywhere!, we passed over rickety bridges, through dark tunnels, and past evergreen forests, crystal blue lakes and snow-covered mountaintops.

... cheese and oil, it tasted fine, if not a little saltier than our cheese, but great with bread dipped in it. for all her efforts, we walked out of there paying only a few euro each, so it was inevitable they would recieve a few boxes of cigarettes too.
The rest of the drive went without a hitch, the roads were sketchy, but not impossible, the people we met were easy to laugh with and fantastically helpful.

He was in a way sort of disappointed that I had found a ride going up, as he had wanted me to be his guest for the night, and spoil me with some over-the-top Georgian hospitality.
