    ... served on a mat of bamboo leaves and then Anielka and I swam with two adult elephants and a playful baby one. At one point, Boomee the baby elephant reached out and held my hand with his trunk - TOO CUTE. We returned to the hostel totally elated and I couldn't stop myself from banging on about it to everyone we met.

    We had a very productive last morning in male surgical. We did dressing changes, assisted in wound care for necrotizing fasciitis, and kelly and I drew blood. We saw sterile technique done on a larger scale for this wound care. For a wound this size we were give sterile gloves to use. However, these sterile gloves are still different from home in that they reuse them by sterilizing between uses. Also, we used a 20 mL glass syringe to irrigate the wound with normal saline solution.     After a restless night sleeping on a what can only be described as a giant water bed…with the water replaced with wood, we managed to stumble out of our hut and into the early heat of the day.
