We came back to the Hotel and had a cup of tea and then wandered down the other road to a couple of parks, full of Chinese out singing and playing cards, and youngsters on bikes and blowing bubbles.
We walked down to the Shangri-La and had a cocktail. Came back to the hotel at 6.45pm for half an hour and then went over the road to our lovely restaurant again.

Apparently the Emperor was only allowed to spend 2 hours with any one of his courtesans, so a eunuch would be posted outside the bedroom to tell him when time was up!
