      ... the old castle
gates and another bar or two. At the end of a lovely day, we hiked
back to the hotel and sat on the roof top watching the sun drop in
the sky while drinking Prosecco. Our evening meal was in the pizza
restaurant near the hotel again. Unfortunately the friendly waiter
      was not there again.
      Having waited ten years
to see the Italian lakes, we were not disappointed. What a wonderful

      With loads to pack into
the day, we set off early to catch the first fast ferry of the day.
In fact, we were early for breakfast and had to wait for the
restaurant to open. The walk into town had been described as two
kilometres, however as the time went by and it looked increasingly as
though we would not make the sailing time, it was obvious that it was

we arrived at the medieval city gates ...

the countryside to Lake Como. This lake had a very distinct
character with steep sided hills plunging straight into the lake. We
followed a coastal road from Como to Bellagio, stopping occasionally
to admire the views, which for most of the time were really just
glimpses of what lay below us. At Bellagio, we stopped for a decent
breather and watched the tour boats load and discharge the tourist

... I need to hit before I leave Bergamo Province: Treviglio. I did a quick walkaround here in 2010 when I was passing through with my wife and daughter while waiting for our train (we needed a stroller), and it wouldn't feel right to not come back and explore it properly. Nice historical core here, with a open air concert being set up in the ...

Day 291 2 hrs, 2.4 kms The plan was to go to Milano from here, but there aren't any direct buses, so I catch a bus back to Bergamo instead. On the way the bus sqeezes through the alleys of an interesting looking town called Osio. Should I get off? Think quick! I do. Osio is very much alive ...
