... day out, although I was absolutely knackered at the end of it! In the evening I had to head to nearby Ciudad Bolívar to find a place to stay for the night, as the football match had meant there was nowhere to stay in Puerto Ordaz. I found a nice little posada near Plaza Bolívar and booked myself a trip to Canaima National Park and Salto Ángel (Angel Falls) before retiring to my hammock for some much needed sleep!

We have really loved it here and will have only great memories. Highlight: Angel Falls & Anaconda catching Lowlight: THAT night in Maracay. Funniest moment: Crashing through rapids on way to Angel Falls. 'What the hell are we doing here' moment: Aricagua Bus Terminal. 9:47pm. 17 May 2009. Stomachs ...
Cuidad Bolivar, Guayana Highlands, Venezuela theblakesYAY! We are in Venezuela! And its raining!!! Arrived in Caracas early in the morning and our Belgium mate helped organise our bus to Ciudad Bolívar. Lucky the next bus was departing in only one and a half hours. So we stood in the line for the bus tickets. The ticket office didnt open until 20 minutes before departure. By the time we got to the front of the line it was 5 mins till departure. Got our tickets and ran to the bus, the very small bus ...
Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela karrina... as a result, people who live in a tropical country have to wear ski clothes to support the climate inside the bus. all the day has been spent in the city: **** but necesary to recover from the big journey. Tomorrow the alarm clock is set to ring at 5am in order to take the boat and go into the wild jungle (delta of the river Orinoco).
Ciudad guayana, Venezuela mariaclement... Then, a car swerved to the right, screeching its tires on the asphalt. The driver hit a pedestrian. The pedestrian flew forward, landing on the ground, motionless. The driver lost control of the car, and crashed into a nearby store. People quickly ran to the scene, cell phones in hand, all attempting to call for medical attention. An ambulance arrived and attended to the lifeless body. Because I was 2 stories ...
Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela alezgAfter the Roraima trek, I stayed in San Francisco for a couple days, and had chance to venture into Brazil for a day...Then took a 12 hour overnight bus to Ciudad Bolivar, where I got some relaxation by the Hotel La Cumbre poolside. The same day I flew back to Caracas and ended this stay in Venezuela at Machuto Beach, in Hotel Santiago.
San Francisco - Pakaraima, Brazil - Ciudad Bolivar - Machuto, Central Venezuela, Venezuela passionfruit... for 4 and a half bottom numbing hours (tip to anyone thinking of doing a tour to there, bring some padding/cushions) up the Carrao River, stopping along the way for a swim and some lunch. At the end of the journey we have reached our campsite, which had a nice view of Angel Falls. We slept overnight at this camp in hammocks (not so easy!! we did not have very much sleep that night!). The next morning we took a short boat trip to the jungle ...
Ciudad Bolivar, Venezuela treasaor... who took us to his bed/breakfast where we had breakfast and a place to keep our stuff while spending the day seeing PO. He showed us around a bit, let us run around in a city park (consisted of 26 islands, all connected with fun funky bridges), confirmed our bus tickets to Santa Elena and took us on a tour of the hydro power plant. PO sits where two rivers join so the amount of water is large. We did learn that the various hydro power plants sprinkled around Venezuela provide 80 ...
