Part of the town is called little Venice, the narrow canals run around the tall timbered buildings, on Tanners street the houses were 7 stories high with open balconies on the top floor for drying the hides. ... were on our way. The freeways here are cat and mouse. You must keep in the right lane as people will zoom up from behind you even though the speed is restricted to 130kph. We were doing mostly 120 and often got passed like we were standing still. Police must have a field day when then catch them. We had left Beaune at 9.30am and reached Colmar at 4.30, passing some pretty rural scenery - green and undulating. Probably should have worked out the GPS by now ...
