the recap

... any idea what kind of amount will be charged. And the amount varied widely! Our friend had told us Avignon was dull and way too touristy, but we had a very different experience. Unless we're way more mainstream than we thought (not too likely). We really enjoyed the town, and if you haven't been in one of these medieval walled towns before, I'd think this would be a great one to start in. People were very friendly, and ...

Marseilles

... in suthern france and visit avignon and Nice using Marseilles as my base camp... I go to the bathroom and the instant I open the bathroom door, it is decided. Back to belgium I go. They had a turkish toilet, but a real one, all you had was a bucket of water and a hole... I ended up riping up pages of my journal.

Brioude

Actually, Villeneuve-d'Allier October 13 Christian took and was driving to Auvergne through the Puy-en-Velay and could eventually leave us on the way to the highway heading south from Clermont. But as the day was well entamed, it seemed obvious that we wouldnt make it further afterwards as it would be dark by arrival. So he invited us over for the night and for dinner which was really great and we accepted. We stopped on the way ...

Clermont Ferrand - the guest who just wont leave

... came up to me and we had a bit of a chat, and he offered for me to go up the tower for free, which Amanda and I had already done. There are way too many stairs to do it again! The thoughtfulness of strangers has really touched me. Nicole is doing her best to keep us busy and I'm doing my best to just have some chill time. I'll keep you posted, and will include photos once I can.

Clermont Ferrand

... places, but I try not to put too many scenic photos on the website. As Brendan says - if you want a good photo of it buy the postcard! People want to see someone they know in the picture, so I try to remember that. A few of the places we visited were Le Puy de Dome, a 1462m high inactive volcano (the area is surrounded by volcanoes). Le Puy en Velay, where there is an amazingly high statue of the Virgin Mary and the story goes that the guy who ...

I look forward to perhaps acquiring the sister I never had. Mon frère is 18 years old, and shares all the characteristics that the age typically entails. He has a HOT girlfriend, is pretty chill and low key, and is just as curious about myself and the United States as I am of him and ...

... there are several hitch-hikers hanging round at the next stop. Ride with a quiet young Morrocan. Lond ride. Nice car. However Chris and I concur that his music choice ranks bottom out of all rides. Dropped off in the dark by the motorway. Climb over a fence to investigate what´s growing. Grapes galore!!! Chris looks on with pity as I stuff grapes into my throat. Set up camp nearby and feel a bit ill.

Misery. We´re so WET. Chris didn´t sleep. And I barely did. Found a cheap super market and bouhgt a cheap roast chicken to dry our sorrows. A bad move. This over-preserved chicken´s soul will come back to haunt us. Catch about six rides from village to village til we get to ...
