The hotel has great view of the marine, from the 5th and 6th floors. The rooms are basic, but the location is good. Breakfast was very good and exceeded our expectations.

We took the train into Bordeaux for the day. It was strange to be in a busy vibrant city after so many days in the country. There was so much to see and not possible to take it all in in one day we would love to come back here for longer ...

... its self. It was definitely a sight to see with the ocean on one side and a Forrest on the other we walked along it for a bit but it was huge and on the top the wind was picking up the sand with some force so it was a bit painful on your bare legs. We sat down on the sheltered side and ate some macaroons we had purchased from the market in town. We got back to Bordeaux late ...

The château as had a hard life two thirds of it was demolished dd sold for money so only one wing remains but it's still pretty as with the gardens. Next is Chenonceau, known as the women's castle, the building ...

... In one of the main areas, a massive carnival was being set up, unfortunately it wouldn’t begin until the following week. We ended up having dinner one night at a pub called the Blarney Stone, which we thought was funny because we have one at home in Vancouver. I really enjoyed Bordeaux and its beauty. After our weekend here, we set back to Cahors to pack and get ready for our big journey to ...

... just outside of the city in Camblanes. No wifi and no dishwasher! And definitely no English spoken. We made meals and generally helped out including a trip for lunch to Arcachon, a lovely beach resort only an hour away from Bordeaux where P and P have a very small studio apartment across the road from the sea. They have not been there in a few years, and they generously offer us the apartment when we are visiting and we are privileged to stay ...
