The hotel has great view of the marine, from the 5th and 6th floors. The rooms are basic, but the location is good. Breakfast was very good and exceeded our expectations.

The third day we headed into Bordeaux. It was so hot, about 37 degrees, but such a beautiful city. We were going to do the 70 minute bus or 60 minute guided train around the city but found a map and decided to do our own tour with Jim reading the map and me taking the photos, perfect.

... just outside of the city in Camblanes. No wifi and no dishwasher! And definitely no English spoken. We made meals and generally helped out including a trip for lunch to Arcachon, a lovely beach resort only an hour away from Bordeaux where P and P have a very small studio apartment across the road from the sea. They have not been there in a few years, and they generously offer us the apartment when we are visiting and we are privileged to stay ...

Headed out with my packed lunch on my very European commuting bike, I should’ve gotten the mountain bike. It was so upright and I felt so disconnected from the bike…weird. Ah wells, the ride was good, got to go along the beach and had a nice little picnic with my lunch...even say some French fighter jets fly over in formation! Then I was out! Not quite ...
