The hotel has great view of the marine, from the 5th and 6th floors. The rooms are basic, but the location is good. Breakfast was very good and exceeded our expectations.

... Saint Emilion .... BEAUTIFUL! The town is full of gorgeous old buildings, narrow streets, vineyards and stunning chateaus. We explored at our own pace here, and sat down for a beautiful lunch right in the middle of the town, surrounded by the many of the old buildings. Will definitely be bringing our parents back here when they come over! Next trip was to the Great Dune du Pyla. Again, a 45 minute drive from Bordeaux, but heading towards the coast. The only thing ...

... a cold one too! So Jayden went back to training on Boxing Day, so I decided to make my way into the city by tram and explore. I managed to stop right outside the shopping hub, Rue Saint Catherine, where I may have done a little damage to the funds! The shopping hub is beautiful however. It is a 1.2km long pedestrian street, and is the main shopping street in Bordeaux. The streets are filled with people, and the shops are mostly ...

... so then it became a "deal." Really, we just were excited about pancakes. Then we headed over to the library which was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous I was jealous of the public who can use it. There was even a radio room, music recording room, media room, among your basic library needs. It was just all eloquently organized and I was loving it. We also had the opportunity to go to dinner with Aiden's mom's friend, Lillian, who was delightful. She is a traveling ...

... just outside of the city in Camblanes. No wifi and no dishwasher! And definitely no English spoken. We made meals and generally helped out including a trip for lunch to Arcachon, a lovely beach resort only an hour away from Bordeaux where P and P have a very small studio apartment across the road from the sea. They have not been there in a few years, and they generously offer us the apartment when we are visiting and we are privileged to stay ...

... Friday, thank goodness the weather cleared up for the afternoon.

Headed out with my packed lunch on my very European commuting bike, I should’ve gotten the mountain bike. It was so upright and I felt so disconnected from the bike…weird. Ah wells, the ride was good, got to go along the beach and had a nice little picnic with my lunch...even say some French fighter jets fly over in formation! Then I was out! Not quite ...
