The hotel has great view of the marine, from the 5th and 6th floors. The rooms are basic, but the location is good. Breakfast was very good and exceeded our expectations.

... dune at the end of the day was lots harder.
The third day we headed into Bordeaux. It was so hot, about 37 degrees, but such a beautiful city. We were going to do the 70 minute bus or 60 minute guided train around the city but found a map and decided to do our own tour with Jim reading the map and me taking the photos, perfect.

That night we ate in the campsite restaurant and then headed back to the tent. When we were in bed there was a massive thunder ...

We arrived later that afternoon about 7-7:30ish so we didn't have much time but Alex took us to see the most famous thing in Bordeaux the mirror of the world. Which is water across a wide spread area and it reflects the building behind it. After this the only thing to do was eat so we found a nice enough place for us all to eat and have a few ...

... just outside of the city in Camblanes. No wifi and no dishwasher! And definitely no English spoken. We made meals and generally helped out including a trip for lunch to Arcachon, a lovely beach resort only an hour away from Bordeaux where P and P have a very small studio apartment across the road from the sea. They have not been there in a few years, and they generously offer us the apartment when we are visiting and we are privileged to stay ...

... Friday, thank goodness the weather cleared up for the afternoon.

Headed out with my packed lunch on my very European commuting bike, I should’ve gotten the mountain bike. It was so upright and I felt so disconnected from the bike…weird. Ah wells, the ride was good, got to go along the beach and had a nice little picnic with my lunch...even say some French fighter jets fly over in formation! Then I was out! Not quite ...

... the hotel we discovered just walking through the old cobbled streets is an
experience on its own, especially in flip-flops (jandles) and we discovered several markets before we even hit our destination, the amazing water front along the river ---------- . We decided to slowly head for this while taking in the rest of the sights. One of our favourites was a beautiful cathedral where some clever bugger decided to build the spire next to the ...
