Asperes. Still in Rhone Valley/Provence. Aire is really nice, quite and spacious. Brilliant Services. Right next to tourist office. Good English. Run down town suffering from Serres, the next town along being a real tourist hot spot! But we liked it. As we go north the Aires thin out so we follow where the few are. It's funny and ironic. We choose a place to stay and then see several more un reported Aires along the way. This one ...

... I arrive in Sisteron 42 miles later completely wasted! Clive greets me up on the rock which holds Sisterons great Citadel. ... at how soft the snow was- just like Fairy floss. We drove on towards Grenoble and then Gap where we were staying the night. We drove through the most amazing picturesque scenery. Towering mountains and old fortresses either side as we moved along the valleys. Just stunning.

The hotel we stayed in was in a good location with the host being very friendly, he reminded us of Gabriel Gate. Gap was a gorgeous little town easily explored by foot from just outside the hotel.

... across who muttered at us in French and bossed others around. She obtained collective giggles sighs and groans by other frenchies. At the Montdauphin station it was just another shuttle bus and a walk up the icy mountain to reach our destination. We were the lucky ones however. Others took 24-36 hours to reach our accommodation. A friend of mine leaving the Alps moved 20km in 6 hours, then ended up in an emergency shelter for the night. There were ...
