... the four of us walked to the palace, it was absolutely beautiful and masterfully crafted. We took the a guided tour of the interior of the palace (the only way you can see inside the palace.) The paintings, carvings, fabrics, and views from the windows were breathtaking. The craftsmanship was tremendous. After the tour, we ate a quick bite in the shade of an old church just a short distance from the castle, and we drive back to ...

Today we rode out of Mulhouse along the Rhone canal into Basel, then caught the train to Geneva where we are staying tonight, and where our bikes are staying for the next two weeks. Sounds quite simple, one sentence really, and it looked so on the map, but I'm hoping stress uses up a lot of calories. Tonight's accommodation is in a little apartment hotel, so we're going to cook our own dinner. ...

... is a tiny tourist office and it gave us walks and cycle info so tomorrow we will explore further. A small bakers and a mini market are still running and appear to be doing just enough business. Day 2. Cycling the Ballon's circuit. The Ballon's. Took us a while to work this one out but it appears that as you move through this area you come across giant ball shaped rocks. They are huge in parts and clearly immovable objects so houses get built round them or they just ...

... who made the route, put in some climbs just to challenge us. Don't get me wrong they have done an amazing job, the signs are usually very well placed on turns etc, and usually easy to see. Sometimes we think their last 5 kms into our destinations feel like 10, but that might be just because we're tired. After having a hot shower and doing the mandatory washing we headed off to explore MONTBELIARD. Once again the centre of town is a mall, and the only vehicles allowed down ...
