Again a chilly morning, and we started cycling along the banks of the Soane river. Very pretty. Farmland with Charilais cattle. Lunch was a picnic on the banks of the Soane. Lovely setting. After lunch we followed the banks of the river for several kms, sometimes quite rough terrain. Crossed the Soane into the Beajolais region and a longish hill climb to our village of Blase. ... had a wine tasting. I’m not the biggest fan of red wine but there I found one that wasn’t half bad.

After the tasting we took some group pictures and took the bus back home where we had a singalong in the back of the bus. Overall, it was a great day and got me ready for the next few weeks.

... fact: if you fall into a batch of grapes that have been fermenting for only a week you can die from all of the alcohol in such a condensed space. At the end we got to taste 5 different wines, which were all good.

I love exploring more of this beautiful country and am so glad I got to see where they're most famous product is made! I'm falling more in love everywhere I go :)

... experience this turned out to be, we headed into the Information centre to find somewhere to stay, the 1st place was booked so she rang another that was just out of town and WOW, this couple were wonderful, their friend turned up and he was a wine maker and they insisted we try his wine with them – one thing lead to another and we were then having a visit to his wine cave ...
