We spent the weekend in Bretagne, one day in Nantes, and a few days in the sea resort town of La Baule, spending some quality time with family, taking the sun, enjoying the food and exploring the surroundings.

Nous avons passe le weekend en Bretagne, un jour a Nantes puis quelques jours a La Baule. Nous avons pu nous y reposer, profiter de la famille, du soleil, de la cuisine francaise et explorer les allentours.

Took the car out to Piriac sur Mer today to explore the coastal area south east of Vannes. It didn't disappoint, nice old port and quaint coastal town. We stopped off for a lakeside walk in the village of Asserac on the way there, and coffee and a bit of shopping in Roche St Bernard on the way ...

... a bite to eat then once more did the seaside tourist thing, along the promenade, round souvenir shops, in the church, up on the ramparts and generally wore ourselves out. We decided on a back-to-front meal by stopping at a creperie where we had our afters, apple and lemon/honey crepes with coffee, then eventually had our main course once we were back at the van (ham sandwich and salad with wine)

Sat 16th May

It was terribly gloomy when we awoke, like mid-winter again so we packed up and joined the queue to get out of the aire…..what a disaster! We had had to pay by credit card when we arrived and were given a pass to come and go, but NON the pass would not let anyone out. We each had to phone individually the pass operators and give them our details before they would raise the barrier, what a performance especially trying to telephone ...
