    While employed at Zimmer, I traveled to Berlin for an orthopedic conference. I really enjoyed the sights and sounds of my adventure and got the travel bug.

    ... a concert, a zoo, people going to Aldi and Death following someone down the street, there was even a little Santa factory which gave you real chocolate. It was brilliant, I think we were in there for over 2 hours.

    After that we wandered around trying to find somewhere for dinner and ended up at a Bavarian restaurant, complete with waiters in leiderhosen. Despite the clichedness of it, the food was good (and huge).

    ... headquarters once was, which was completely destroyed after the war. Our tour also included a bunch of Prussian palaces, libraries and Universities. On the grounds of the University was where one of the book burnings took place under Hitler’s rule. Today there is an underground memorial dedicated toward the book burning that took place here. The memorial is a white square room with empty book shelves which could hold approximately 20,000 books, ...

    When I got to Berlin, I had the most complicated journey to the train station to meet Berit.

    We then went to meet her study buddy who had a spare little flat for us to stay in. It's one room, but it is lovely.
