Today was our cooking day. Lesley picked us up and drove us to her house in another nearby village. She is from England , but has lived in Italy for 11 years. She had Lisenna helping, who only spoke Italian. We made 4 courses. For our antipasti we made La Ribollita, or Tuscan bean soup. Our first course was gnocchi with a cheese sauce. ... We were able to use some of what we learned in our Italian class to communicate pretty well, but it was still a little difficult. We have a nice apartment with a living area/kitchen and bedroom. There are beautiful views of the valley and the vineyards on the property. Tom had made reservations at a really nice restaurant nearby for my birthday. It was the end to a very nice day! Tomorrow we have our Tuscan cooking class,so be ready for more pictures of food! ...

We had a bit of an explore of the town; walking up steep hills in very hot weather, and we looked around for somewhere to eat later, then found a cafe for a well-earned cool drink. We came back to our hotel to freshen up then went out for dinner at La Bottega dell'Oste. Another beautiful meal in a family run restaurant. Today, after the typical morning duties, I planned to go out for a walk about the town, looking for presents for people. Slightly unfortunately, Livia went off to her gym class, taking the keys with her. Thus, I was presented with the following conundrum; stay in the house or go out, leaving the door open and hoping no one closed it. I went for the latter option.
