Hamilton Academical v Hearts 6/12/2009

Travelled from Fife over to West of Scotland and Hamilton, just south of Glasgow.
Watched the game which Hamilton won 2-1 and really enjoyed the atmosphere. On the radio on the way home though learned that there had been fighting in the players tunnel after the game and the Police had been involved. Boys will be boys!!
Sat with the Hearts fans ... not happy! Team were poor and they can see their club is in decline!

East Fife v Alloa Athletic - 5/12/2009

... without it but I guess a lot of people will have lots of memories of their time there.
I had thought of going to Raith Rovers game but changed my mind the day before traveling - good job I did - the Raith match was cancelled!

Anyway - enjoyed the game. Ended 2-0 to Alloa who now move into the promotion contention in Scottish League two.

The Heart of Scotland

After about a 4 hours drive we headed straight into Glasgow. Had a quick tour of the city and then a visit to the oldest Pub in Glasgow. On sitting down we soon realised we had just sat beside the village idiot! His conversation ranged from him being in a "Black hole" in and out of Hell, his skill at being a match maker and how "Men would hit their sons and their sons would hit ...

Looking for a piece of human skin?

Stacy and I got up at 4am and grabbed a taxi to the airport. Little did we know all hell would break loose at the airport and we'd almost miss our flight. Our flight was at 6:30, so we wanted to make sure we'd get there in plenty of time since we were unfamiliar with the airport. We were flying RyanAir. When we arrived, we already had our tickets so we went and stood in line to go through security. Halfway through we realized we had to have ...

Edinburgh - Day 5: "My Heart for Lothian"

... mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours.”[2] Yeah. I figured we could all try it and if we didn’t like it, no big loss.

When the Haggis Royale was delivered to our table, it didn’t look as I had expected it to. I was expecting it to still be encased in the stomach or intestine or whatever it is they cooked it in, and then me being all skeeved out by having to cut into it. As it was ...

Snow night - lots of snow

... into each other so we made a giant one out of the remains) and had a snow fight. We ended up going to bed around 1am for a 6.30am work start the next day but it was worth it. Especially as we'd never had that much snow and didn't know whether we'd get it again (we haven't...).

Bye Bye Wee Scotland, Bonjour Paris

... us into town and we trundled our cases the 300m or so to our hotel ("Hotel Residence Foch" http://www.residencefoch.com/uk/navigat ion.htm ). We'd been allocated a beautiful room, the only one on the top floor of the hotel (it's only small - 7 floors and about 20 rooms in total). We're staying in a really beautiful part of Paris, near the Champs-Elysees and Arc de Triumph. So nice to get to the room and fall asleep!

Kilts and Castles

... re really proud of being Scottish. Really proud. Really... really proud. We took our wanderings about and went to the free National Museum of Scotland, where we wandered about over the next couple of days. We saw the now deceased and stuffed Dolly, the first cloned sheep, quite a cool Egyptian collection, and some amazing displays on geology, bugs, and birds... including a New Zealand Kakapo... a flightless green parrot that is one of the most ...

... probably!!! The Fringe Festival will be starting in about a week and half already so Edinburgh will me insane. Looking forward to that as well, because a bunch of us have tickets to see some Aussie comedian whom I've heard is really good. I've also found out that "That Canadian Guy" comedian is doing a show here as well, so I just need to find someone to go with because he is hilarious!! Should be a great month. That's about it for me though ...
