Since parliament is in session it's not possible to go inside so instead I continue my walk in the rain many metres above the river and finally down a steep series of hairpin streets on wet cobblestones to a very high bridge across the river Aare (a tributary of the Rhine), this is one of 18 bridges at Bern which cross this very deep fast flowing river (actually it's an amalgamation of 3 rivers by the time it reaches Bern)
