... sides on the shallow river's edge. With brushes in our hands, we excitedly ran to them, snapping pictures as we petted, scrubbed and kissed them. Then, the trainers instructed the elephants to stand, and we got to take turns while the elephants sucked water into their tusks, pressed them to our faces and showered us with water. It was one of the best moments of my life, I was ecstatic. We then got 2-3 baskets of food and sugar cane to feed them one-by-one. Our elephant was ...

... for the second part of our trek. Minpin, a second guide turned up and Dave and I got on the back of their mopeds for the 20 minute drive to Bukit Kencur. When we got there, we walked through rubber plantations before getting to the forest and it was just before going into the forest that we spotted some Thomas leaf monkeys, a langur which is only found in northern Sumatra. The roads were a lot different from Borneo, they're complete chaos, with people on mopeds everywhere, at one point we saw four people on the same one! I don't mean your usual Kuala Lumpur downpour either, this rain was like bullets hitting you! the thunderstorm had just started aswell! We put our ponchos on and walked up the main little alley to Sams bungalow, everyone inside looking I expect thinking what the hell are these pair of butters doing! The alley had soon turned into a stream, ...

... was a slightly insane old woman/man chilling outside her/his house. A few minutes later, the bus driver drove down to us, still with zero other passengers, and offered to take us for 250,000IDR. I said no, 200,000IDR and he finally agreed. Still a flippin rip off, but at the end of the day it is an hours drive and we had no choice. We made it to the train station with about 15 minutes to spare, bought our tickets and headed to Banyuwangi! Finally!
