Scott got up early this morning and went out on the hammock, I couldn't open my eyes so I had an extra hour in bed but turns out I missed watching the monkeys play in the trees. Scott was watching them for ages swinging about but wasn't sure what ones they were because they were brown little things. It rained really heavy last night to the point we couldn't hear each other talking and we were say next to one another! Don't have a great night sleep because we were both tossing ...

It was difficult getting up early this morning to pack up what was left of our clothes and have breakfast up on the terrace before our jungle trek at 8.30am. We dropped our bags off next door ready to check in later and we were off down the river to start our walk. At breakfast we spotted a few monkeys playing in the trees on the opposite side of the river. Ben, out your guide said that they are probably thomas langua monkeys. We walked over a rickety old bridge and through some rubber ...

Our alarm clock this morning were the noises of the white gibbon singing in the trees and the noise of the river flowing passed which actually made you think that it was raining. We got some breakfast on the rooftop and met Marie who owns the guesthouse, we caught up on the mis-confusion last night. Fruit salad for breakfast for me! You would not believe how excited I was for it, and I had a black passionfruit which was delicious! Scott had a chocolate pancake and that was ...

To our dismay, we checked out of our lovely Yogyakarta hotel early on the 21st, and boarded what we thought was an 8 hour mini bus journey to the tiny mountain village of Cemero Lawang, 2217m above sea level. It was a seriously hot and stuffy journey due to the fact that we had no air con, little leg room and were so close to the hot engine. I expected half of the journey to be a slow uphill drive around hairpin bends and what not, but we didn't even start climbing ...

From Malang we booked a Jeep tour to drive us into the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, where we would be attempting to summit the second active volcano of the trip - Mount Bromo. Our journey in our own private Land Cruiser took us from the inner city chaos to the lush, tropical countryside and we made our first stop of the tour at a local waterfall. We could feel the spray from the impressive waterfall even before we had sighted it and got drenched as ...
