... additional three months. My Itinerary is flexible.

The intention of my trip is multi-faceted. I set out on my adventure looking to strengthen my mind, body and soul. The academic portion of my trip extends far past the classes that I will be taking in Mendoza. after two years of studying International Relations with a focus on sustainable ...

Welcome to San Francisco!

... cell house. I tried to leave John there but I couldn't shut the cell gates! After that we walked around to Pier 39 for some lunch. The atmosphere there was great. It was a pretty nice day & people were everywhere. We walked along the pier which had a great view of Alcatraz & the Golden Gate Bridge & we saw the Sea Lions all vegged out on the pontoons in the water. Noisy little buggers they were! John gave me my birthday ...

Home again, home again

The drive from Las Vegas to San Francisco took us 10-1/2 hours door to door, including a stop for a nice sit-down Mexican lunch in Tehachapi. We missed the Weird Al renditions and rubber chicken riffs from the back seat, but were happy Max is having fun with his grandparents instead of sitting in a car all day.

Table for One please.......

... left from, again harassed a random stranger to take photos of me on the boat over to Alcatraz. Once there we were shown a movie about the history of Alcatraz, given an audio guide and let loose around the prison. It was amazing! The cells were tiny 6 feet wide, 8 feet tall & 11 feet long. Big enough to fit a bed, basin, toilet, and shelf and that was it. It was cold, eerie & had to be one of the most shocking places on earth. The history of the island is ...

Arriving in San Francisco

... in a bit of a blues festival and get some shopping done - mostly warm jerseys for Yosemite as we had not really thought when packing how cold it might get. I even managed to lose my Mastercard but even that could not dampen our moods. Tea was in a buzzing Irish pub, with street acts outside and a everything a buzz with people, even on a Sunday night. Ok that is enough but you might get the idea that WE LOVE THIS PLACE.

Traffic on the bridge

Another full day of meetings. But the worst part of the day was getting home from SFO. Because the last train leaves the airport around midnight, and my flight arrived well after 11pm, I decided to drive instead of taking BART. The flight was delayed 40 minutes, so I was feeling rather pleased with myself ... until I hit the Bay Bridge closure. I saw the signs saying that the freeway was ...

Wake Up! Time to go!

... the two vans. 5 AM arrive at SFO. Small line but lots of luggage and only 3 clerks slowed the line. Apparently, flight was overbooked & they're looking for volunteers for alternative flights- but not me today! My window seat was nice- I fell asleep immediately. It was a two movie flight and a snack only for purchase. Glad I got the egg sandwich at the airport.
