Historical Traveler Reviews of Inn at Ardgour Fort William
Could do better at that price
from HappyTr1pper
The staff were very friendly, the location was good and the room was fine. The low point was the food - it was very average compared with other places we stayed.

Owner's Reponse
It is never nice to hear that someone is unhappy with their stay and I am sorry you did not enjoy our food.
However, our tariff is currently less than £50.00 per person per night for dinner, bed and breakfast. You compare us to a place that currently has a "special offer of only £110.00 per person per night for dinner, bed and breakfast" (for a minimum two night stay). Quite rightly, you point out that our food is not of the same standard as theirs. I quite agree. We are a three star small hotel aimed at the budget conscious customer who wants good service, clean rooms and a three course meal (of good old-fashioned pub grub which is cooked from fresh) for the same sort of money as you pay for a night at a travel-inn. All other reviews for our establishment back this up.
A little inaccurate to say "could do better at that price".

Wonderful Stay in Scottish Inn!
from mhmc

Luke and his family provided us with a very pleasant stay at their
quiet and pleasant inn. So much personality from the family, the inn, and the area! I use a small power wheelchair and was able to get around very nicely at their inn. We ate breakfast and supper there and both were very good. The rooms and beds were comforable and the surroundings fun! We took the ferry across the small lake and it docked right in front of the inn. There were sheep gazing all around and we were able to take a pleasant walk along side of the lake. We saw "locals' in the pleasant pub and enjoyed Luke's father and mother very much. We were there with another couple - long time friends. We are in our 50s, and we had newly weds, a family, and several hikers eating with us. We would revisit their inn again.
Ideal base and great location
from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed here for three nights using the Inn as a base for the area- definitely recommended.
Great small hotel, room overlooked the Loch and everyone was friendly.
Location is ideal right off the ferry and on the water.
Room was small but very clean and it had a good shower.
From my initial enquiry right through to check out family were very helpful with all aspects of my stay.
If you are heading up towards Fort William do not be drawn to the bland hotels in the town stay here- it has so much more to offer in terms of location and quality of stay.
As a point on another review- there is now a smoking ban in Scotland ( great news- can not wait for it to become law in England as well) so the main bar is now fine to sit in.
Loved the Inn

Thought the Inn was extremely good in all areas. We could not fault it and would recommend it to anyone.
Great Welcome
from A TripAdvisor Member
We were received with a warm welcome at reception, and shown to our family suite which was very clean and fresh, with all the furnishings being quite new.
The bar area was fantastic, extremely cosy and warm, with a few decent beers!
Our view in the morning down the Loch was just breathtaking.
Thanks to Luke and the rest of his family for making our overnight stay one of the most memorable of our brief excursion to Scotland
A lot of character - loved it!

We really enjoyed our stay at this family-run establishment. We used the inn as a base for exploring Fort William area.
They were kind enough to accommodate us, by serving us a hearty dinner, even though we arrived past their usual dinner timeframe. The rooms are all non-smoking. Our room was clean, with enough room to accommodate a cot for our baby, and the bathroom was modern. Breakfast was good. The food, in general, was tasty and substantial. The staff was friendly.
We would have liked to check out the bar, as it seems to be frequented by locals - however it was too smokey for us. The rest of the hotel, including a spacious and welcoming residents' lounge, is however non-smoking.
The ferry drops you off right at the front door.
We would stay there again.
Quaint

Good for ferry just outside the front door, well placed for exploring Ardgour , friendly staff , reasonable breakfast but mediocre uninspired evening meal . Comfortable room , clean and tidy , nice ensuite . Good views out over the loch . Tables outside if the weather is nice (which it was )
Very Friendly

We had a great but short stay here. It is family run, and everyone was very friendly and accomodating. Our room looked right out over the loch and the ferry. Great modern bathroom.
Dinner was good and reasonably priced. Look forward to staying again.
What a gem!

The hotel is located Lochside opposite the ferry. It looks the part, as you go inside, the staff who also own and run the Inn are so friendly, the rooms are pleasently decorated and furnished. The views are just spectacular. Food reasonably priced and of excellent quality. Would really like to keep this one to ourselves, but that wouldn't be fair. This was the best of our touring holiday to Scotland.
I really liked the Inn at Ardgour
from A TripAdvisor Member
My friend and I stayed at the Inn at Ardgour at Easter 2005, and were very impressed. Our room was small, but very nice, clean, and had everything we needed. The views are spectacular. Dinner both nights was excellent, and the breakfasts were well worth getting up for. The atmosphere in the bar, which seems to attract locals as well as residents, is very good. Staff were friendly, and very helpful.
If you're visiting this part of scotland, and you should, I have no hesitation in recommending the Inn at Ardgour.
