... It is quite harsh and very dry until you come to a beautiful bright green paddock where they have pumped the water from the river to irrigate. They must have good pumps as they have to get the water up quite high as it isn’t flat along the river. It is like there are lots of plateaux, and this is where they put in the crops. We found 4 caches on the track, including one set in 2002. We were aware of one so the extras were a bonus. There were a number of groups enjoying the pleasant temperatures, one of whom did tell his wife that he’d just read that 'the tunnels were for a railway you know' in amazed tones.
