... It is quite harsh and very dry until you come to a beautiful bright green paddock where they have pumped the water from the river to irrigate. We caught the Hwy 7, leading us to Hope British Columbia. We stopped only a few times to take pictures and took some time to take advantage of the roadside pickings of blackberries. They tasted wonderfully sweet and warm in the sun. We arrived to our campground by 3:00 which gave us a lot of time to take a 2 hour hike to Othello tunnels. ... around Hope and were sorry to not have longer because we enjoyed the chainsaw art that decorated the streets, the historic church and the parks. The church is the longest continually operating church on BC’s mainland, built near the end of the Gold Rush. We also visited a small Japanese area in a Park and discovered that Hope has a significant Japanese link.
