We caught the Hwy 7, leading us to Hope British Columbia. We stopped only a few times to take pictures and took some time to take advantage of the roadside pickings of blackberries. They tasted wonderfully sweet and warm in the sun. We arrived to our campground by 3:00 which gave us a lot of time to take a 2 hour hike to Othello tunnels. ... gradient from Hope to the summit, running alongside the Coquihalla river, was about 2%, but the main obstacle was only 4 miles from Hope in this Gorge with 100m walls. Several engineers had said a track was impossible but Andrew McCullock was lowered into the canyon in a woven basket, set up footholds in the rock for survey instruments and planned a route involving the 5 tunnels and 2 bridges!! I feel nervous even writing this after visiting.

... bought some fudge from one of the places we stopped at and this gave all of us another push start. Had a wonderful time and made it to Hope where we will spend the night. I do not know where we are headed tomorrow but I believe it's Vancouver.
