This is just a test blog! I didn't fully get to experience the 3.6 mile hiking trail since our trail was flooded and the I forgot bug spray - a big no-no, kids.
Tip: don't attempt the hiking trails after a big rain! You won't get far on the single-wide shrub covered trail.

After leaving the Everglades, we headed up the west coast of Florida and stopped at Naples for a few nights. Naples is the ninth wealthiest city in the US, and we saw this reflected in the dress, shops, and housing. It has a trendy street that rivals one in Palm Springs where we saw expensive clothing, jewelry, and art. (One art store had crysta...
Sanibel Island, Florida, United States noalarmclocksWe hadn't bothered to dig out our sleeping bags last night because we hadn't needed them the last 2 nights on the Keys. But here in the Everglades the temperature dropped to about 44F overnight and we were cold. We managed to stay cozy and toasty by cuddling up to each other. It did not rain, but the night time humidity soaked the rainfly as if ...

We've had such a fabulous week in Ft. Myers! Spent lots of time reconnecting with Greg's Uncles Cliff and Steve and Aunts Agnes and Eleanor, who have a really nice timeshare condo on Estero Island, looking out onto the Gulf. Mid-week, Greg's Cousin Claire arrived, after her long drive down from Toronto.
Greg got in a couple of bridge...
Naples, Florida, United States kroghAfter a filling breakfast of bagels and fruit, we stocked up on lunch for the trip (very cheap sushi for me, its like 5 dollars for a massive tray of sushi). Back into the lovely PT Cruiser and heading out of Key West for one last time we waved goodbye to the tacky stores and millions of Shell Worlds (guess what they sell). Our trip to Naples to...

Flew out of EWR into Ft Myers on Delta. Flight crew was way too fun:
"That orange button is called your 'flight attendant call button'. Push it once and it lights up. We'll assume you didn't mean to and ignore it. Push it again and the light turns off. A third time and you are automatically ejected from the plane."
Arrived in t...
Well, I know what you're going to say, "Not another air museum"! Well I guess you're starting to see a pattern here of Mission Churches and Aircraft, but I promise this will be the last one (maybe...). Sorry, but I had to put this one up, it's probably the best one in the country, even better than the Smithsonian in D.C. (I've been there too). I...

Flew out of EWR into Fort Myers. Rented a car and drove to V&A's. As we drove south we admired our carefree attitude and ability to pull this off in under 2 days.
Stopped at Taco Bell for a quick bite and proceeded to lock the car keys in the trunk (fell off my finger while I was getting my sunglasses). Had to call Hertz Emergency R...
thursday 26th feb: as i dont recall anything about this day i'm assuming we did nothing worth mentioning. ooh maybe it was another day when we drank tequila... that explains it. friday 27th feb: went out for a good old artery clogging american breakfast in the morning then went back to bed for most of the day. eventually got up in the afternoon ...
