    The western side of Florida is essentially one big swamp. Parts of it have been reclaimed to make fancy gated communities, but the treasures are in the state parks. In these we saw alligators, manatee, fish, lots of birds, deer and a bunch of other wildlife.

    ... We drove into town, along Gulfshore Rd (where all of the BIG homes are - ridiculous money!) we stopped at the beach and walked out the pier. LOTS of people on the beach and lots were fishing off the pier. We saw a dolphin swimming along the pier and lots of Pelicans.     ... are. We had lunch and cocktails at CJ's on the Bay. I had Calamari in a salsa sauce, very yummy. After Marco Island we went to Naples Pier where we saw Dolphins and a very large sea turtle.
