... the 25th year of the German reunification (1989). They were expecting thousands of people in Frankfurt and we actually ( on Saturday night) watched the major event on the TV. Dinner was at a very small local eatery where we had pork and potatoes ( of course) and wine. We sat at long wooden table with benches..family style. A neighborhood German place full of locals and fun to experience. We returned "home" and settled down for the night.
... I realized the mistake~ it took about an extra hour in my day~ could it have been avoided? did I learn anything from it?
Here is the final entry I wrote in my journal during my walk: "I am stronger than I thought~ not just physically. I know I have been given many blessings on this journey. I realize I have received a gift more precious than gold. It cannot be physically touched or verbally shared. But I feel it WILL touch others. ...
... to have a good time, the athletes competing in it and the fans who follow them around the beautifully manicured course and get to see them on a very personal basis.
This great happening makes everyone feel good every year. It's something that reflects so much of what is good about Knoxville. It puts the city in a great light. Many communities can only dream about having something in their town that does so much for everyone involved.
I thought I would start by answering the 5 BIG W's.
I hope all my walking at Lakeshore and working out with John pay off. I will be leaving Monday and heading to Spain with my friend Linda. We will be spending about two weeks..... in the Northwest region of Spain......hiking 96+ miles.....from O'Cebreiro to Santiago..... and doing a little sight seeing along the way. The last W is the WHY and this is hard to put into words...right now ...
August 21st – day 109
Today we drove through Gatlinburg and
Pigeon Forge on the way to Maryville TN. Gatlinburg was too commercial
for us plus no place to park a car let along an RV. Pigeon Forge has
Dollywood so we drove past and took photos. Then onto Maryville where
we spent time with Heather and her kids. Heather and I “met” 15
