Well that was the worst sleep I have ever had I mean you just couldn't sleep. I listened to my meditation tape, for what good that was.
At 5.15am a guy came around to make the beds back to seats. Thought that I might give the loo another go as it would be better than Bangkok train …

Spent the day following a tour around the grand palace was very impressive, our guide explained that the structure couldnt have been made in such short time without the use of slave labor! Was pretty crazy!

Historical Traveler Reviews Indra Regent Hotel Bangkok
Best location for bargain clothes shopping
The hotel is great value for those who don't want to spend too much on luxury. It is centrally located in the Pratunam area and surrounded wholesale clothes bazaar. Definitely the place to stay for bargain hunters.
The hotel itself is quite old but doesn't look too worn. The lobby is inviting and the rooms decent. According to the bellhop, the hotel is about 20 years old so the decor is not really up to date. It had a safe in the room which is a plus, and luggage weighing scales on almost every floor for those who had indulged on a bit too much shopping ;)
It's a bit far from the skytrain (about 15-20 min walk) but there area so many shops along the way you won't feel it unless if you're walking in the middle of the afternoon. The up-market shopping malls are also 10-15 mins walk away.
Breakfast was simple but sufficient. The hotel seemed popular with tour groups. Staff were courteous and friendly. But didn't like the staff who handled taxis... they try to get you to use their hotel cars or get taxis that will take you around Bangkok instead of straight to your desired destination. But since the hotel is so centrally located, it's easy to find taxis in the area. Location wise it may be a bit chaotic, but i think bangkok is generally like that.
The expressway to the airport is nearby so there's not much problem to get to the airport.
Great position
have stayed at the Indra many times before and find it excellent valur for money and position, if you like shopping then this is so convienent. The staff are very helpful, and we ate there mostely and found the food very good. The new shoppinf cente that has opened there is excellent buying.
I would reccommend this hotel to the traveller who like good value and friendly staff
Great Value
Ask for room 1701. Its seriously big and green.
Indra Regent Hotel
An acceptable hotel, decent value for the money--in fact, breakfasts were excellent and the staff, superb. Mildew is the biggest problem at the Indra Regent. Location is the second. The hotel is located in Pratunam Market area, so a bit far from the sky-train for our purposes, but it's perfect for the tour-bus crowd.
Friendly
Recently stayed at this hotel Feb 2005 most friendliest staff I have encounted would recommend this hotel clean,friendly,helpful staff really lovely place to stay close to everything security is great,the staff are excellent will definately stay there with my family next visit ,hello to choom Don B {tom cruse}
Layover
We stayed one night at the Indra Regent. The staff was very pleasant. The lobby inviting and the room was very good. The carpet needed to be replaced in some areas. The hotel seems rather busy--it appears they host banquets there..it may not be for those who are looking for peace and quiet.
Value for money
We have been guests of the Indra Regent twice in the last couple of years. We request it from our agent. We found the staff attentive, the breakfast was great, I could spend hours watching omlett making. It is right opposite the markets. You get what you pay for and this hotel is far above the price charged.
Great Hotel
Loved the hotel, staff were friendly and restaurant nice. Great pool area. Really good location - step out and cross the road to the markets. Really easy to get a tuk-tuk or taxi with the guys outside. Rooms are really nice and tidy. Going back to Bangkok next week and am planning to stay there again.
Reasonable hotel
Hotel is well located opposite the Pratunam markets. The hotel itself is quite old and the rooms are in need of some renovation.
The staff were not the most helpful I have come across in my travels.
Overall it was a reasonable hotel in a good location.
Stay away if you want a good time
In comparison to other hotels that I have stayed in Bangkok, this is got to be the worst experience. From the front desk person to the pestering Men in White outside, they surely do not know the first thing about customer service. Front Dest clerks appears to be doing you a favor for answering questions and the Men in White are constantly pestering you for use of their vehicles. Don't even bother with getting them to help you getting a taxi. Definately not a recommended hotel regardless of what you read in reviews on the internet. Take my advice, try another hotel.
