After six months of counting the days
its time.
We were dropped off by Brendan and Toni
at about 8:45pm the check in opened shortly after, which was great
and I am sure that is why we scored row 41 which is forward of the
wing.

we waited to board at 11:20pm for a departure at 11:59, Anita went on

Arrived in Bangkok late Thursday night. Airport here is very new and well designed. On Friday we did a temple and city tour, I will add photos soon. They seem to spend millions on temples and statues of Buddha. Yesterday it reached 38.C combined with the polution and humidity, not much fun. Went to Bangkoks top seafood restaurant last night with Sebastians friend Tops family, amazing food, we have never seen so many waiters in our lives. They are paid 8$nz a day.

Well tonight we arrived in Bangkok. Considering it was a nine hour plane flight is went reasonably quick and didnt give me too much time to dwell on what Im doing. When I walked through the doors of the airport I wasn't greeted with the usual horrible heat, it was quite quite cool and not as chaotic as I remebered. Sorted out our suitcases and have managed to get by with only two suitcases for now. We can postpone buying a new one if we need to until we're in Phuket. Spent most of the day at the mall doing a last shop, checking e-mails and getting some PSP games on the cheap along with getting the PSPs chipped in order take the copied games. Hoping they work! Had a breakfast of pineapple and tea on the train as the rice paddies passed by out the window. It was an excellent way to start the day. We arrived in Hualamphong station, Bangkok on time at 10.55am. However it was a tad more troublesome finding a taxi for a fair fare so settled on a Sawngthaew (the trailer on the back of a ute) to the hotel for 300 Baht. Got out of the hotel by 10am determined to see the sights at a cheaper rate than the 1000 Baht per person city and temple tour. We thought that this would be good as Silla and I have done the tours previously seen most of the sights and Eli is take it or leave it - so what could go wrong... Best location for bargain clothes shopping
The hotel itself is quite old but doesn't look too worn. The lobby is inviting and the rooms decent. According to the bellhop, the hotel is about 20 years old so the decor is not really up to date. It had a safe in the room which is a plus, and luggage weighing scales on almost every floor for those who had indulged on a bit too much shopping ;)
It's a bit far from the skytrain (about 15-20 min walk) but there area so many shops along the way you won't feel it unless if you're walking in the middle of the afternoon. The up-market shopping malls are also 10-15 mins walk away.
Breakfast was simple but sufficient. The hotel seemed popular with tour groups. Staff were courteous and friendly. But didn't like the staff who handled taxis... they try to get you to use their hotel cars or get taxis that will take you around Bangkok instead of straight to your desired destination. But since the hotel is so centrally located, it's easy to find taxis in the area. Location wise it may be a bit chaotic, but i think bangkok is generally like that.
The expressway to the airport is nearby so there's not much problem to get to the airport.

Overall it was a reasonable hotel in a good location.
